Birthday Surprises including Dinner and a Serenade – I Am One Lucky Girl!

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday with my family.  My husband surprised me by taking the day off to head out to breakfast, enjoy a nice walk together and to give me a “relaxing day off” from my usual routine. (Yes, he is romantic like that – I must say he is quite the catch!)   It was an early pick up day at school so we headed out for an incredibly delicious dinner at California Pizza Kitchen at Plymouth Metting Mall.  (If you love salads and extra thin crust pizza – you must must make it a point to check this place out!!)  I will definitely be making it a point to visit again soon.  That food was amazing!  Oh and hint, hint – if you decide to check out California Pizza Kitchen for yourself, I suggest heading to their website HERE and signing up for the California Pizza Kitchen Adventure eClub!  It’s free to join and they will send you a $5 off any purchase of $20 or more coupon that you can take along to save a few dollars during your visit.  (Other area locations include King of Prussia Mall, City Line Avenue, Cherry Hill Mall, and Christiana Mall)

After dinner my Mom and sister, as well as my inlaws, came over to enjoy some cake and ice cream.  They showered me with gifts.  Then my kids gave me their gifts as well. My daughter Ashley at college posted a beautiful picture of the two of us on Facebook with a wonderful sentiment beneath the picture. My youngest daughter Hailey drew me a beautiful card with pictures of our family.  It melted my heart.  Then my son Aidan serenaded me – bringing me to tears.  I cannot begin to explain how much I love these kids!  Aidan has just recently started learning to play the saxophone in hopes of joining the South Philadelphia Stringband in a few years to carry on the mummer tradition that has been a long part of both sides of our family.  He has marched in the New Years Parade with both South Philadelphia and Woodland Stringband (with his Pop) in previous years.  Let’s just say – he is on his way to following in his Daddy, Uncle and both Pops’ footsteps.  That’s my boy!

I have to say – I truly feel like the luckiest Mom and wife in the whole world. My family is my heart and I am so proud to call them mine.  I may be getting older, but I must say because of them, the journey only gets better every year!
