Meet Mighty Mike at Adventure Aquarium in NJ Now Through Labor Day 2013

My children and I received complimentary tickets to visit Adventure Aquarium for a special blogger event. All opinions, as always, are my own.

What’s 14 feet long, weighs over 800 pounds, is nearly 50 years old and can swallow a turkey in a single gulp?

His name is Mighty Mike – and this summer you can meet him up close and personal at Adventure Aquarium in Camden NJ!  Families are invited to visit with America’s biggest and baddest alligator while learning all about him and checking out everything from his massive size to his sharp rows of teeth and thick, powerful tail.  Get ready to gasp if you get a chance to watch him eat at one of his meal times which can include four to nine pounds of meat in just one sitting!  Zowzers!  Did you know that American alligators have one of the strongest bites of any living animal, even five times stronger than a great white shark’s bite?  When they say he’s big and he’s bad – they certainly are not kidding!

I can attest – my kids and I were invited to visit with Mighty Mike last week and let’s just say I would not want to be caught in a dark alley with this guy.  You cannot grasp his size until you walk up to the window and stand next to him.  I kid you not when I say his size is mind blowing!  This guy is more than enough reason to add Adventure Aquarium to your list of day trips this summer – as he will only be visiting through Labor Day.  You will not want to miss this limited opportunity to check out one of the largest animals ever featured at the aquarium!

As frequent visitors of Adventure Aquarium,  my family and I especially love that each visit always has something new and exciting to offer. My son loves all types of sea creatures so he is especially intrigued by the exhibits where he is able to touch and personally interact with some of his favorite sea creatures such as Sharks, Stingrays and starfish.  Of course, this visit was no different – I think he could have spent the whole day petting the sea creatures and asking a million and one questions about them.  What is great about being at the aquarium, all of the staff are not only super friendly but they are always glad to talk about the animals and fish and answer all of your questions.  I love that whenever we visit, not only is it a fun experience, but we always learn so many new things. Visits are always as educational as they are fun.

My daughter’s favorite exhibit by far is the penguins and I will have to admit – they are one of my favorites as well.  We had fun watching them waddle, frolic, swim and dive!

In addition to hands on exhibits and plenty of tanks to view all of the underwater creatures, the aquarium also features a special Kids Zone, geared especially to kids ages 6 and under.  The Kids Zone, in addition to the opportunity to get hands on with the creatures, offers a space where kids can jump, crawl and play their way through the entire area.

There are so many awesome things to see and do at the Aquarium – and the photo ops are incredible. Check out some of the great pictures we captured during our visit…
