Nature's Promise GIANT

It’s April and spring is in the air!  April  is the time of the year when I  start cracking open the windows, cleaning the house and sprucing up for one of my favorite seasons of the year. It is also Earth Day this month (April 22nd to be exact) and in an effort to create a healthier, safer environment for my family, I am trying to use natural and organic cleaners, containers and household items whenever possible.  As you may already know, sometimes it is tough to find USDA certified organic products that fit into the budget yet still do a great job.  Lucky for us, GIANT Food Stores offers an amazing line of own brand affordable organic/free from products called Nature’s Promise – over 800 products to be exact! The line, which has been in stores since 2004, includes both food and non food items.  I have been using some of the Nature’s Promise food based items such as their cooking sprays and peanut butter for quite sometime now and I have been very impressed with the quality of these items for the price.  Recently I have been ecstatic to learn that they carry a line of organic/free from cleaning, storage and household items that are perfect for my home’s needs.

I absolutely love that Nature’s Promise “Free from” ingredients are clearly indicated on the product packaging.  It takes the guesswork out of what to look for on the label.  Nature’s Promise “Free from” products are free from artificial ingredients, including artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. Nature’s Promise “Free from” household products are free from harsh chemicals, including ingredients like added artificial dyes and fragrances. And despite the fact that the items are free from all of the above, they are infused with natural ingredients that leave behind a fresh, light but lively scent when cleaning.  I am especially fond of the Lime Grapefruit scented All Purpose Cleaner, White Tea and Sage Scented Plant Based Dish Detergent as well as the Tea Tree Oil Scented Plant Based Glass Cleaner. I have started my spring cleaning using all three of these versatile products and they have been doing such a great job around my house making things clean and fresh. It feels (and smells) like a spa experience for my home!

Unfortunately, along with spring cleaning of my home comes the often dreaded organizing. (Can you tell how much I dislike this part of my spring cleaning routine??!!)  After making my way through room by room, I am always brainstorming ways to keep everything in its place.  I often find this to be one of the hardest parts of getting the house in order yet I constantly am striving to make an effort – and hoping and praying that eventually my kids start to catch on as well.  In this ongoing process, I have found that GIANT’s BPA free storage containers are extremely handy and wonderful for organizing everything from leftovers in the refrigerator to hairbands and LEGOS in the kids bedrooms.  They are clear so that contents inside can be easily recognized and they are reusable which means they can be cleaned and reused over and over again, microwave safe and top shelf dishwasher safe. Oh – and they stack well too! I have also found that GIANT’s  BPA-free Shaker bottles are great for making protein shakes – and can be used to drink them on the go.  The bottle is the perfect size and can be reused again and again cutting back on disposable cup waste. I love that I can carry it from room to room with me as I am cleaning or in the car on the go as I head off to the grocery store or to pick up the kids.  My husband carries one back and forth to work as well – which cuts back on the cost of grabbing breakfast at one of the convenience stores along the way.  We have found that it saves time and money – and is well worth the small investment for a container. Reusable bags are also handy not only for carrying groceries back and forth to the store but as a catch all to carry items up and downstairs in your home, toting goodies to friends and families homes, picnics and sports outings, storing clothing items, flip flops and shoes in the closet and the waterproof ones are especially great to tote beach towels and pool toys back and forth to the beach and pool. Oh – and I almost forgot to mention that they make great gift bags too! The best part about reusuable items is that I am always finding new and creative ways to recycle them – over and over again.

This time of year I also take a moment to change out the battery in each smoke alarm in my home. Safety is always a priority and this habit assures that the smoke detectors are working and charged.  I also take the time to be sure that we are doing everything we can to keep energy expenses to a minimum. Shutting off lights not in use, using natural light and fresh air from the windows and hanging some of our clothing and bedding items out to dry in the warmer weather are habits I gravitate toward this time of the year. To cut back on energy use in my home, one by one as my bulbs burn out, I am making the switch to CFL bulbs.  Did you know that CFLs use about 70% less energy than incandescent bulbs? Now multiply that times the many bulbs throughout the home!  Wow!  It is amazing how simple little changes can add up and make a difference. GIANT’s Smart Living CFL Bulbs carry the Energy Star stamp as well as a 2 year limited warranty, which makes them a safe and smart choice for savvy shoppers like me.

  18. Hey!

I love these natural spring cleaning tips.

I must say that there are plenty of ways to get your home clean without resorting to harmful chemicals and detergents and you can get the same results too.

This post is quite informative for those who really love cleaning.

Also, vinegar do the best job when we talk about cleaning. Its a great way at getting out stubborn stains from almost any surface and can even de-scale kettles.

There are plenty of eco-friendly cleaning products available too which are equally effective as their other chemicals at cleaning.
Eco balls for washing machines can clean clothes quite effectively without the need for any detergents and you can even get dryer balls to replace fabric softeners.

    Thanks for sharing this information.

    Keep doing good work
    God Bless U!
