Fresh Prepared Meals in Minutes Thanks to Swiss Farms

Disclosure: My family and I received two entrees and each of the four side dishes to facilitate this review.  All opinions are my own.

Anyone else feel like dinner is always a hurried mess during the week?  With all of my kids’ extra-curricular activities and sports combined with my husband’s long work day, dinner can often be a challenge.  I really do strive to get a hot, nutritious meal on the table the majority of the week, but some nights are exceptionally more difficult than others.  At the beginning of this year, I made a commitment to myself to avoid greasy, unhealthy fast food as much as possible.  Thanks to Swiss Farms, nutritious, prepared food to go is now an option with their fresh prepared meal items.

With ten main dishes to choose from at $7.99 each, as well as four sides for $4.99 each, mixing and matching affordable dinners that your family will enjoy is a piece of cake! Simply drive up, place your order, add on some drinks and go.  You will be home in no time with a complete meal you can feel good serving your family.

Thanks to Swiss Farms, my family and I had the opportunity to sample some of their menu items this week. Since we are trying to eat as healthy as possible, we decided to try the baked salmon in honey mustard sauce as well as the roasted turkey breast topped with gravy.  We were also given each of the four sides to compliment our meal.

Each of the entrees come prepackaged with generous, family sized portions.  The package contains ingredients, suggestions for side dishes that pair well with the entree and heating instructions.  Entrees can be heated right in the container.  Simply pop off the lid to vent, heat in the microwave as instructed – and BAM!  Dinner is hot and ready to serve in minutes.

I also loved that not only can the entrees be heated in the microwave right in the package, but the containers also include ingredients, suggestions for what the item pairs well with and easy instructions for heating. Even my kids could get dinner on the table themselves thanks to this easy and convenient preparation!

First off, I must mention that our entire family absolutely LOVED the garlicky green beans and mashed Yukon Gold Potatoes. They were both out-of-this-world delicious! These mashed potatoes could rival my homemade mashed potatoes any day (and I am super picky when it comes to mashed potatoes)!  You absolutely must give them a try for yourself!

The Roast turkey was our favorite of the two entrees.  Not only did it heat well and retain its moisture and freshness after heating, the slices were so hearty and tender. The gravy was the perfect consistency with just the right amount of seasoning and paired perfectly with the tender white meat.

Although the honey mustard salmon was tasty, my husband and I both agreed that it was a bit dry even with the drizzle of delcious honey mustard sauce that accompanied the fish.  Next time I think I maybe would add a trickle of water to the bottom of the container before heating to help maintain some of the moisture. We otherwise loved this option and would definitely try it again in the future.

Last but not least, we chose to save our vegetable egg rolls and spicy nachos as a snack. Both were big hits with the family.  My husband and son are big fans of nachos – especially with a kick, so they were both loving the spicy nachos.  I liked that all of the toppings are kept separate in the container to retain the crispiness of the tortilla chips.

The vegetable egg rolls were a favorite of mine.  Jam-packed with delicious Asian blend crisp vegetables, these little delights were so filling!  I found that after heating the in the microwave they lost the crunch that I tend to enjoy from an egg roll so I saved one and heated it in the toaster oven instead.  Placing on a tray at 350 degrees on about 4 minutes per side, the egg roll came out perfectly – and this is definitely how I will reheat these again with future purchases.

Check out all of those crispy vegetables packed in there!

I’m thinking the Vegetable Egg Rolls and Spicy Nachos would be a nice little appetizer this Super Bowl Sunday!  I may need to pick some up!

  1. I really need something like this! Many times I’d rather actually enjoy time with my family after work rather than speeding to make dinner. I’ve never been to the store but my husband has driven through for milk, which he finds amazing lol
