I just got back from an event hosted by Giant and Peapod. I am super excited about this new grocery delivery service and cannot wait to give it a try! It is perfect for busy Moms, people who are unable to drive, elderly persons who have difficulty getting to the store, new parents…I could just go on and on!
You simply log on to Peapod by Giant online. Register and be sure to add your Giant Bonuscard information to the box to assure you get all of your store savings. The site is then super easy to navigate. There is a search box for specific items you wish to purchase. Each item also lists nutritional information, which I was super excited about! Simply add your items to your cart and a virtual list will appear on the right side of the page listing your purchases and tallying your total as you go along. Each time you use the service, the program will remember previous items you have ordered in the past, making it easier to click and reorder them in future purchases if you wish. You can also begin a virtual list on line, which eliminates the need to post lists that you are liable to misplace! There is even a Peapod app for your phone! How convenient is that?
Some interesting facts that I learned about Peapod service:
- You CAN use manufacturers coupons – and they will double them according to store policy just as they do in store! Simply give them to the delivery person when they come to your door and the coupons will be deducted from your bill. Your credit card is not charged for your items until after they are delivered. All items must be paid with a credit card on the site.
- Most of the sale items you see in your weekly ads will also be on sale on the site. The items which are on sale will be shown with a red mark on your checkout list.
- Your grocery order does not come from your local Giant store; rather, the groceries are packaged in a temperature controlled warehouse, where the personal shoppers are specially trained to choose the freshest fruits and vegetables and package all of your items with care.
- There is a 2 hour delivery window in which you will receive your groceries. You also have the choice in some cases to choose a “greener” 4 hour window, which gives you an additional $2 off your purchase! You can opt for text messages letting you know when your groceries are on the way so that you do not have to be waiting at your front door for the groceries to arrive.
- Food is delivered in temperature controlled totes to ensure that your food is kept fresh.
- By adding your Giant BonusCard to your account, you will also be able to receive gas credits and Giant A + School Rewards for your school!
- Peapod delivers to businesses as well as residences and is currently available in the local Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery County areas
- Your minimum order must be at least $60. Delivery costs range from $7.95 – $9.95, depending on the size of your order.
