Slow Cooker Monday: Slow Cooker Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Homemade Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Spray Crockpot with PAM
Add to crockpot:
one large can of Tomato Puree
and one large can of crushed tomatoes (you can substitute chopped tomatoes if you prefer a chunkier sauce)
1/2 can tomato paste (optional)…I usually only add this if I have it on hand
2  cubes frozen garlic cubes (or you can substitute fresh to your liking)
2 cubes frozen basil cubes (or you can use fresh to your liking)
Chopped onion (or if your family does not like onion pieces, simply peel a whole onion, cut in half and toss into sauce for flavor.
Any mix of italian seasonings you choose.  I do not measure any of mine…I sprinkle parsley, oregano and toss in a bay leaf
1 cup water
Sprinkle of sugar (optional)

Stir ingredients well and cook on low all day.  I do occassionally check it and give it a stir throughout the day if I am around, but it is not absolutely necessary.  If it seems to be too thick to your liking, add water 1/2 cup at a time until desired consistency.

Serve with your favorite fresh pasta, noodles or ravioli.  It also freezes well.
