Creative Clubhouse Havertown, PA {Review}

My 4-year-old daughter is a self proclaimed “Ar-tee-st”.  She draws, scribbles and doodles from the time she wakes up until she goes to bed at night.  When we were invited to visit the Creative Clubhouse in Havertown with some area Philly Social Media Moms for open studio last week, she was over-the-moon excited to check it out.

This local kids venue, located at 16 East Eagle Road in Havertown, is cozy, bright and a perfect spot to allow the kids to play, explore and get their creative juices flowing.  As you enter the studio, the vibrant colors, children’s artwork and dainty furniture immediately welcome little ones and allow them to feel right at home.  I found that the studio, although meant for fun and sometimes even messy play, was organized, clean and in no way overwhelming, which is super important since my daughter does not always do well with chaos.

The front area is filled with a bright window area where kids can build blocks, head over to enjoy some puzzles or other age-appropriate toys.  She loved that she could create towers with the blocks and hoped that people would walk by and admire her creations in the windows.

As we moved into the main area, several small stations were set up.   There was a lego building table, a table with playdough, one with frames and colorful macaroni, sequins and poms poms for decorating, a table with dot markers and paper and another area with easels, smocks and paint.  Each table had plenty of supplies and the tables that contained paint and glue also had smocks and wet wipes available for easy clean up.

My daughter checked out each station one by one, starting with the macaroni frames.  She was consistently entertained as she enjoyed the unique activity at each station.  She finished her day by creating a masterpiece with finger paints.  I found that all of the stations would have appealed to a variety of ages and each one challenged her to create in a different way.  Had my 9-year-old son been with us, I am sure he would have had just as much fun as my 4-year-old.  And the staff was wonderful, taking time to assist with the crafts and other needs.

After all of this creative play, we were also treated to some heavenly gourmet mini cupcakes from Dia Doce, who were recent winners on the popular TV show Cupcake Wars.  Let’s just say it is no surprise that they won!  The cupcakes, which are make with 100% natural ingredients and no artificial flavors, were divine.  I was also informed that they carry gluten-free and vegan varieties. They even have a cupcake truck that sells their sweet delights. Go HERE to check out the Dia Doce Mobile Gourmet Cupcake Shoppe schedule.
