Food Should Taste Good Snacks {Review & Giveaway}

It’s safe to say and we should all agree – Food Should Taste Good!  But when it tastes good AND is healthy for you, well that’s just plain awesome.

With the kids home for the summer, trips to the pool and vacations away from home, snacks are a necessity to have on hand this time of year.  As a Mom, I feel it is my job to find snacks that are healthy so that I can feel good serving them to my family.  I also feel that buying the same old snacks tends to get boring; finding new snacks that my family enjoy can pose a challenge.

Food Should Taste Good snacks are made with simple, all natural ingredients.  You will not find cholesterol, trans fats, preservatives or GMOs (genetically modified ingredients) in these chips. In addition, they are gluten free, kosher and all varieties except the chocolate and cheddar varieties are vegan, making them suitable for those who follow these types of diets.  Lower in sodium than average chips, they are better for you and contain fiber, which means a smaller serving keeps you fuller longer.  So far – quite impressive, huh?

Food Should Taste Good offered to send me my choice of five of their twenty three varieties to sample.  Talk about a difficult choice!  They all sounded absolutely delicious.  After talking it over with my family, we decided on The Works, Barbeque, Salt & Pepper, Lime and Chocolate.  I was super pleased with my choices!

Here’s a little about the ones I chose:

The Works – These savory chips were my absolute favorite!  Loaded with onion, garlic, poppy and caraway seeds, this perfectly crunchy medley of deliciousness mimics the flavor of a loaded bagel.  Although I sampled them straight up, I could easily see using these to dip into any of your favorite creamy dips, hummus or even spinach dip.  These will certainly be a regular on our snack list here – the entire family LOVED them!

Barbeque – These are no ordinary potato chip!  Made from sweet potatoes, these chips have yummy sweet undertones topped with a savory mesquite bite.  It’s a lovely combination and was another crowd pleaser in my home.

Salt & Pepper – My family loves salt and pepper on everything.  When my family eats popcorn, they always compliment it with both.  So it was no surprise that the salt & pepper chips were right up our alley.  Not too salty or peppery, the combination really works with the sweet potato chips.  We were impressed how they are not greasy yet still pack a ton of flavor and crunch.  My kids enjoyed stacking a few in their ham and cheese sandwiches to give it a nice crunch at lunchtime.

Lime – The lime chips seemed like a fun, refreshing treat that would easily go with salsa or guacamole, which are both staples items in our pantry.  You can certainly taste the real lime juice flavor in each bite.  I actually preferred these tortilla dipped in salsa much more than eating them alone.

Chocolate – My family and I had such high expectations for the chocolate that when we finally tried them, we weren’t really sure how we felt about them.  I think we all expected more of a rich, distinct chocolate flavor.  Instead we all agreed that the chocolate flavor was rather subtle and not very sweet.  They tasted more like the usual tortilla chip than a chocolaty version.  Perhaps pairing them with a sweet, creamy dip or fruit salsa might bring out more of the flavor.  Next time, I would even consider breaking some up to sprinkle over ice cream or yogurt.

Now that I have tried 5 flavors, most of which my family really enjoyed, I plan to add a few more flavors to my grocery list to pick up during my next shopping trip.  I definitely am looking forward to trying the cheddar and multigrain versions next!
