Our Family Portraits with Betsy Brody Photography

Two weeks ago, my family and I had the pleasure of meeting up with Betsy Brody, photographer and owner at Betsy Brody Photography, for a family portrait session.  Prior to our meeting day, I had communicated with her via email to set up a place and time for portraits.  She was lovely to chat with online and was open to doing our session outdoors.  I have been dreaming of doing an outdoor session for quite sometime now; needless to say, I was thrilled when she suggested meeting us at the duck pond at Haverford College.  The location was the perfect landscape for a relaxed, casual photo shoot and my family immediately loved it as much as I did.

I will admit, I have always been quite camera shy.  I loved that Betsy was easygoing and helped us to feel natural and relaxed.   Her gentle tone and professionalism really shined as she captured our family on film.  At the end of the session, I caught her off guard by asking if she would mind doing a few head shots for the blog.  I had not discussed this with her prior to the family session, but I have been wanting to get a professional head shot for quite sometime. I was feeling rather relaxed and could not let the opportunity pass.  She gladly took me aside and snapped away.  For the first time in a very long time, I did not feel nervous or anxious about having my picture taken and I actually found the experience quite enjoyable.

At the end of the session, Betsy mentioned that the proofs should be ready to view online in a few days and that we could get back in touch once I had chosen which pictures I would like to have reproduced.

Later that evening, I went online to catch up on some blogging and – lo and behold – our portrait session was already online and ready to view.  As I looked through each one, I could not help but smile.  She captured our family perfectly and I could not wait to sit down with my husband to choose our favorites.  Even my very picky 21-year-old daughter Ashley raved at how much she loved them.  It was such a difficult choice, as I could have easily purchased every one – they were all beautiful.

Here are a few of our favorites; we have since ordered several of them and I cannot wait for our 11×14 family portrait to arrive to proudly display our living room.
