Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Auntie Anne’s At-Home Baking Kits {Review & Giveaway}

Whenever we head to the mall to do some shopping, the first thing my kids always ask is to stop by Auntie Anne’s to enjoy a warm and delightful Auntie Anne’s pretzel.  They are so soft, fresh and buttery delicious – I cannot help but to give in every time.

This holiday season, Auntie Anne’s has two amazing Auntie Anne’s At-Home Soft Pretzel Baking Kits that allow you to bring a taste of the season right into your own home.  With flavor choices like Apple Cinnamon and Gingerbread, they are perfect to make as a holiday treat, to bring along to a gathering, or to simply enjoy at home or freeze for later.

My family had the opportunity to review an Apple Cinnamon Pretzel kit – and let me tell you – these were a huge hit in our house!

The Auntie Anne’s Bake at Home Pretzel Kit comes with all of the ingredients you need (other than water,  a little flour for rolling the dough, non stick spray and butter for basting the pretzels) and step by step instructions that walk you through how to make the pretzels from beginning to end.

The entire process took me a little under an hour so be sure to let the kids know this before starting the baking if they will be helping.  After the dry ingredients are mixed, you must then form a ball of dough which must sit covered in a greased bowl for about 30 minutes.   Once the dough has had time to rise, you flatten and slice into strips.  The strips are then stretched and thinned enough to form long strings.  The pretzels can be shaped any way you choose.  In addition to making the usual pretzel twists, we also had fun making our initials, the word LOVE and mini-sized pretzels.  The kit makes a generous number of pretzels depending on the size and styles you choose to make.  What I also enjoyed was that you have the option to make them as thick or thin, big or small as you prefer.

After the pretzels have been freshly baked in the oven, you then brush with melted butter and generously sprinkle with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Can you say melt-in-your-mouth heavenly cinnamon deliciousness?  It took no time at all before my family was digging in and savoring every bite. My favorite part?  The sweet oat grains gave the pretzels such a nice texture and the apple cinnamon sweetness turned them into instant pretzel perfection!

These would make such an awesome holiday gift!  They are perfect to have on hand for snowy or rainy days when you are looking for something fun to do with the kids, to give as a teacher’s gift or to make as a treat to bring along to an outing or potluck.  They also freeze well so you can make a stash to have on hand for easy snacks for the family.  Another fun feature of this kit is that it comes with other recipes you can create.  Rather than pretzels, you can try making apple cinnamon monkey bread, apple tarts or one of a whole list of great recipes that you can find HERE.  Auntie Anne’s At-Home Baking Kits can be purchased on Amazon HERE or at other local retailers which can be found HERE.
