ReUsies {Review and Giveaway}

As a busy Mom, I am always on the go.  I feel like sometimes I spend more time in the car than I do at home.  Part of the running requires that I frequently pack snacks, lunches (and sometimes even dinner) to keep up with the busy schedule.  In addition, to save money, I prefer to pack lunches for school and play dates as often as possible.  It helps to avoid the fast food temptation and is definitely healthier for our whole family.

In my efforts to try to be as green as possible, I am always looking for ways to avoid excess plastic and other waste items.  When I pack, I prefer to use reusable containers whenever possible to avoid using baggies that will end up in a landfill.  Let me tell you a little about one of my favorites that my kids really enjoy.

ReUsies are a reusable alternative to sandwich and snack baggies.    These soft and flexible pouches are 100% cotton lined with leak-resistant nylon and secure with velcro on the inner flap.  The velcro closures are kid friendly and do a wonderful job of keeping the contents inside of the pouch.  They come in a multitude of designs and colors; there is a pattern to fit everyone’s personality – even Mom and Dad! Best of all, they are super easy to clean!  You have the option of wiping by hand, dishwasher, or washer and dryer.  Yep – pop the pouch in with your dinner dishes or next load of laundry and – BAM!- they come out clean and fresh.  Check out this video how to care for ReUsies HERE.

Check out just a few of the other fun patterns (there are plenty more to choose from on the website such as solids, camo, heavy metal [for older kids] and other whimsical designs):

We use our ReUsies to pack everything from Sandwiches to Apple Slices and Chopped Fresh Veggies to Crackers and Pretzels.  They come in two sizes.  The larger one (approx. 7.5” w/ 6” h)  fits a sandwich perfectly where the smaller one (approx. 6” w / 5” h) can fit half a sandwich or a generous snack.

Here’s how we use ReUsies to pack my son’s lunchbox:

  Look- they fit perfectly! (And how cute is the little green monster pattern?)
Best of all the individual bags are under $10 each ($9.00 for Sandwich size, $7.50 for Snack Size,  two packs are just $16 and four packs for $32.)  These would make wonderful stocking stuffers (or you can use them to wrap a smaller gift like a gift card or trinket inside).  These pay for themselves in no time – as they eliminate the need for disposable plastic baggies.  This is a gift that you can truly feel good about giving!
