Weight Watchers Smart Ones Review & Giveaway #EatSmart

Meal planning is key to helping stay on track with my diet. My schedule is extremely hectic throughout the week while running the kids to swim practice, gymnastics and various extra-curricular activities. I try my best to plan meals in the slow cooker or cook ahead whenever possible, but let’s face it – there are always those days where cooking is simply out of the question. To help prevent unwanted fast food stops, I try to keep my freezer filled with healthy, low calorie frozen meals.  I have found that they make great last minute lunches too!  Weight Watchers Smart Ones are some of my favorites and perfect for these occasions. Whenever I see them on sale at Pathmark or Acme, I load up my cart and refresh my freezer stash.

Smart Ones is committed to providing smart food choices to support you while managing your weight. Here are Smart Ones six simple smart eating principles that are sure to help keep you on track:

  1. Portion control so you can eat the foods you love
  2. Breakfast is crucial because it starts your day right & heps control hunger
  3. Smart eating includes a variety of foods with protein
  4. Whole grains, fruit and vegetables can keep you fuller, longer
  5. Smart desserts and snacks can help you stay on track
  6. Support and knowledge are critical to making smart food choices

I was recently given the opportunity to try a Smart Ones product.  I chose the Smart Ones Mini Rigatoni with Vodka Cream Sauce.  At just 290 calories and 8 Weight Watchers points, this delicious, rich and creamy option tasted more like something I would order at a restaurant.  The sauce was so creamy and authentic – I was even impressed by the mini chunks of tomatoes I savored along with the rigatoni.  I was impressed at the taste and texture of the pasta.  It was cooked al dente – just the way I would make it myself.  The meal was truly filling and I am certainly going to add this one to my list of favorites.  Just pop in the microwave and minutes later I have a fiber rich, healthy and perfectly portioned meal option.

Two others that I always keep on hand include Smart Ones Traditional Lasagna with Meat Sauce as well as the Smart Ones Sundaes. Since lasagna is so time consuming, I rarely make my own from scratch.  I have found the Smart Ones version to be hearty with a true Italian, zesty flavored sauce and just the right amount of meat and cheese.  The portion size is perfect and I do not have the temptation or option to go back for second helpings, which helps keep me in control.  As for the sundaes, I keep them on hand for those days when my sweet tooth gets the best of me.  All clocking in at 150 calories or less, there are approximately ten variations to choose from with my favorites being Peanut Butter Cup Sundae, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sundae and Strawberry Shortcake Sundae.  Can you say divine?

Writing this post definitely has made me rethink my diet and my need to get back on track with journaling my food and watching my intake.  I love that Smart Ones makes it easier to stay on track even on my busiest days.
