French Toast School Wear {Review & Giveaway}

It is now a few months into the school year, the seasons are changing and my children are both ready for a few new pieces to add to their school uniform wardrobe.  Although I love that my children wear uniforms, I find that outfitting two children at the same time at the beginning of the school year can take a toll on my wallet.  Heading back to school, the weather is still warm and my kids often start back wearing shorts and skorts from the end of the previous school year.  I have also found that with them growing leaps and bounds, I start off the year with a few pieces and gradually add to their wardrobe as the weather changes.  This way not only is it easier on my budget, but I can also be assured that the sizes I am buying fit well and will last them through the remainder of the school year.

Mid to late fall, I usually begin to purchase long sleeve polo shirts and full length pants to get us through the winter months.  Just in time for the incoming cool weather, I was contacted by French Toast with the opportunity to review a few uniform items of my choosing.  I am so glad I said yes as I have never tried the French Toast line and I was instantly impressed by their amazing online selection and reasonably priced clothing line.  You will find it all at FrenchToast.com – everything for complete school uniforms from pants and skorts to capris and polo shirts, button down shirts, shorts, sweaters, and all of the accessories you need to complete the uniform.  For $125, you can easily create an entire wardrobe to outfit your child for an entire school year, and right now you can get free shipping on orders of $75 or more.  Best of all, their clothing is soft and comfortable while maintaining its quality and durability.

Here are a few of the pieces we selected:

Hailey is wearing the Long Sleeve Interlock Knit Polo with Picot Collar (Feminine Fit) in green.  I love the feminine details such as the small flower shaped buttons, the slimmer cut and the picot trim collar.  The material is a soft cotton/polyester blend and not only fits well but has kept its shape and vibrant color even after several washes.  Her pants are the Stretch Twill Pant in Khaki.  My daughter is petite yet these pants were the perfect length for her.  My daughter can be picky about pants so the elastic back is nice and stretchy and helps to keep them feeling comfortable all day.  I also love that because of the stretch they have the ability to grow along with her throughout the school year and I don’t have to worry as much about the waist becoming too tight.  They also have an adorable button back pocket which adds to the overall charm of the pants.  One of the down side of these pants, however, is that I find that I have to iron them as they come out of the dryer.  They wrinkle easily after washing.  Next time I am going to try grabbing them out of the dryer 1/4 of the way through the cycle and hang dry to see if that makes a difference. Overall, my daughter loved the look and feel of both items that I chose for her.  I am crazy about all of the little details and feminine touches that make these so fashionable!

My son Aidan is wearing the   Long Sleeve Pique Polo in Green and the  Boys Adjustable Waist Double-Knee Pant in Black. I originally ordered the pants in his usual size 14 but when they arrived and he tried them on, they were perfect in length but more narrow in the waist than the pants we have previously purchased.  He was barely able to button them comfortably.  I figured that a size 16 would be too long, so I contacted the company to see if they could be exchanged for another size.  I learned that French Toast also carries a line of husky and plus size clothing – perfect for situations where kids may be between sizes.  We reordered the pants in a 14 husky.  Although the waist was more than generously cut for his waistline, the adjustable waist allowed us to cinch them in to a comfortable size where they fit him very nicely after the waist adjustment.  The legs are a bit wider than his other pants, but overall they are a much better fit than the regular size we had originally chosen.  I have been very happy with the ability to wash and wear with no wrinkling.  Not having to iron pants is always a plus in this busy Mama’s book! The heavy weight pique polo shirt we chose  is soft and breathable and looks great wash after wash. The material lays very nicely and does not wrinkle when washing and drying.  My son mentioned that both items are extremely  comfortable and they were as comfortable to play in at school as they were while sitting at his desk throughout the day.

I am excited to head back to French Toast to purchase a few more items this school year.  I adore the cute preppy look achieved by mixing pleated skorts or jumper dresses with peter pan color blouses and knee socks.  The items in their line are so cute – they would even be perfect for church and other special occasions.  I never remember uniforms ever being this stylish when we were younger!  Head over to the French Toast Official School Wear website and check out their amazing selection for yourself.
