Paying It Forward Back to School Backpack Event with Campus Books and Madame Deals

Disclosure: I received $25 from Campus Book Rentals to purchase a backpack and as many school supplies as possible to fill it. I received no additional compensation. All opinions are my own.

This year I have the privilege of working with Campus Book Rentals and Madame Deals Media to participate in a Paying It Forward campaign to help a student in need by supplying a back pack filled with back to school needs.  Have you heard of Campus Books?  Campus Book Rentals is a company that offers students up to 90% off  their textbooks! It not only allows students to save money, it helps  students make money by providing services for students to rent out their textbooks to other students. Campus Book Rentals has been around since  2007, and continues to help students live a more affordable life. Campus Book Rentals is proud to sponsor such an amazing pay it forward event!

Thanks to the generosity of Campus Books, I was given $25 to purchase a backpack and as many supplies as possible to donate to a needy child this school year.  I chose to donate my backpack to Pathways PA, a local non profit services and advocacy center for women, children and families located at 310 Amosland Road in our local Holmes, PA area.  Every year, Pathways PA sponsors a Back to School Project where they collect school supplies from members of the community to give to children in their residential programs who are in need of school supplies.  Anyone is welcome to donate supplies to this wonderful program; you can read more about various items Pathways PA is in need of HERE.  They have a box for school supply drop offs located right in their office making drop off quick and easy.  Think about how good you will feel knowing you are helping a child or children get ready to go back to school, where they will be learning and growing all year long.

I found that by shopping at a combination of stores including Target, Walgreens, CVS and Dollar Tree, I was able to purchase more than I would by shopping at just one store.   Here is what I was able to purchase:

Walgreens Backpack $3.99 (This backpack deal was unbelievable!) Scissors $0.99 Pencil Case $0.97 Folder $0.16 Folder $0.17 Folder $0.17 Folder $0.17 Folder $0.17 Memo book $0.16  12 inch Ruler $0.19 Black Pens 10 ct $0.29 Filler Paper $0.69 School Box $0.69 Pencil Sharpener $0.39 Compass $0.39, Protractor $0.19 2 Pack erasers $0.25 2 Pack Dry Erase Markers $0.99

Target Composition Book $0.52 Composition Book $0.52 Composition Book $0.52 Composition Book $0.52 Colored Pencils $0.99  Crayola Crayons $0.50 Markers $0.75 Glue $0.39 Pencils $1.24 Pencil Case $1.94

CVS – Hand Santitizer $1.24

Dollar Tree – Glue Sticks $1.06

Total $21.21 Tax 1.27 Grand Total $22.48  (With the $2.52 balance, I am going to head back and pick up a few extra school supplies to donate along with the backpack)

Many thanks to Campus Books and Madame Deals Media for selecting me to be a part of this wonderful program.  I cannot tell you how excited my kids and I were to be able to help another child to get ready for school this year.  My daughter picked out all of the supplies to color coordinate with the very colorful backpack that she picked out.  She even included a special picture to put inside for the recipient.

Have you picked up any extra school supplies this year?  If so, have you considered paying it forward? Remember – to pay it forward, you do not need to purchase an entire backpack; any supplies you can donate will make a difference!
