Cooking Up Some Family Fun with Baker’s Passport {Review & Giveaway}

Disclosure: My family and I received a Baker’s Passport Adventure to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% my own.

Nothing beats baking with the family on a cold, snowy day! Yesterday was an unexpected snow day for our family – and we were all overjoyed for the opportunity to take out our Baker’s Passport Little Bite in Spanish and spend some quality time as a family baking and learning!

Recently I was contacted by Meg, a local Philly area Mom and creator of Baker’s Passport. She told me all about her desire to combine her two passions of baking and learning into a fun experience that kids and families can enjoy. I was thrilled to learn more about her kits, as I am always looking for new ways to open my children’s imaginations and encourage them to learn and experience new cultures. Currently, Baker’s Passport offers downloadable passports in three languages – French, Spanish and Japanese. Each passport contains detailed instructions, which are child friendly and extremely easy to read and understand, a friendly tour guide, and fun activities to help children learn to read, speak, and write new languages – all while having fun and opening their imaginations to new worlds and cultures.

The kids and I were thrilled to get started on our Spanish passport!  We gathered all of the ingredients needed to bake some delicious chocolate chip oat cookies and rolled up our sleeves for some good old fashioned fun!

The kids had a blast measuring, scooping and stirring the ingredients step by step from beginning to end. As we went along, we learned and practiced related Spanish words and numbers. The kids did the majority of the work themselves with very little help from Mom. I could see how proud they were to be able to work as a team to make their delicious creation.

I loved that everything is done by hand – no need for a mixer. Some good old fashioned arm power and some stirring and counting got all the ingredients mixed just right – and the kids loved every minute of the hands on experience.

After measuring out the dough scoop by scoop, it was time for Mom to pop the cookies in the oven and set the timer. To pass the time, the kids and I practiced more of our Spanish words and had fun playing with a crossword puzzle and Spanish worksheet. What a great way to measure how much we learned! Before we knew it the oven was buzzing away and it was time to check out the finished product.

Ta – Da! PERFECTION!! Not only did the cookies smell heavenly, we all agreed that they were muy delicioso (very delicious)!

To add to the fun of the adventures with Baker’s Passport, at the end of the experience, kids can print out their very own passport where they can add a photo and earn a stamp for each adventure they complete! Perfect for rainy, hot or snowy days inside, homeschool families, or families just looking for some family fun, each passport kit costs just $10 and is a fun and unique way to enjoy a delicious and educational adventure together.

Best of all, owner Meg is also a big believer in giving back. Baker’s Passport generously gives $1 of every purchase to Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organization working to end world hunger. How wonderful is that?
