The season continues at Upper Darby Summer Stage with their next presentation, “Honk, Jr.” – A contemporary twist on the Hans Christian Anderson classic! Summer Stage premiered Honk, Jr. in 2004 and it was the surprise hit of the season! Written by the people who created the new Broadway version of Mary Poppins, the show is a fun, contemporary version of The Ugly Duckling. It teaches all that it is OK to be different and that we shouldn’t judge people by how they look but by what is on the inside.
Performances are on August 6th at 10:30 am, August 7th at 10:30 am and 7:30 pm and on August 8th at 10:30 am. Honk, Jr is approximately 70 minutes and is ideal for ages 4 and up. Once again, this is a fun and affordable way to take the kids to a show and introduce them to the wonder and delight of onstage performances.
Tickets are just $7 – $10 and may be purchased at the Box Office, by calling 610.622.1189 or online at www.udpac.org. In addition, parking is free and easily accessible to the theater entrance.
For those with younger children, free babysitting is offered onsite at the theater for those too young to enjoy the show. Children are invited to come early for pre-show activities before the morning performances and stay after the show to meet the cast members! My kids absolutely loved the before and after activities when we have visited in the past and I am always so impressed at how the cast interacts with the children, answering their questions and thanking them for coming to the show. Whether you have not yet visited Upper Darby Performing Arts Center or you are a frequent visitor to the shows, here is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a fantastic performance!
For these performances, audience members are encouraged to bring in new toys and teenage books for the “To Fill the World with Love” Toy/Book Drive. Contributors will eligible for a chance to win a train set provided by Bachmann Trains. Upper Darby Summer Stage is partnering with Bachmann Trains and the Delaware County Library System to benefit the young patients at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Drop-off bins will be located on site at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. What a wonderful way for families to be able to give back to the community!
Thanks to the generosity of Upper Darby Performing Arts Center, Delco Deal Diva is giving away one family 4 pack of tickets for the 10:30 AM show on Wednesday August 7th. Please note that Ticket dates are not exchangeable. For your chance to win, simply fill out the easy Rafflecopter form below. Winner will be drawn on Sunday August 3rd . Good Luck!!
