The Mainstage show at Upper Darby Summer Stage isn’t just for kids! Professional on every level – directing, costuming, lighting design, full orchestra – Mainstage at Summer Stage features young adults to the age of 28.

Shrek The Musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stage.   Get ready to be treated to an energetic and fun filled production that is perfect for families night out!

In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand… and his name is Shrek.

Featuring a terrific score of 19 all-new songs, big laughs, great dancing and breathtaking scenery, WWOR-TV proclaims Shrek The Musical, “Far, far and away the funniest new musical on Broadway!”

Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Performances are on August 1, 2, 8, 9 at 7:30 pm and August 9 at 1:30 pm . Shrek the Musical is approximately 2 and a half hours and is ideal for ages 8 and up. Once again, this is a fun and affordable way to take the kids to a show and introduce them to the wonder and delight of onstage performances.

Tickets are just $12 – $15 ($1 off for members, $2 off for children 12 and under) and may be purchased at the Box Office, by calling 610.622.1189 or online at www.udpac.org. In addition, parking is free and easily accessible to the theater entrance.

After the Saturday matinee on August 9th, audience members can meet the cast of “Shrek” outside following the show.  Characters will be available to greet the audience, take pictures and sign autographs.
