Take Your Home to the Next Level with the New Comcast Xfinity Features

 Disclosure: I attended an event  at the Philadelphia Magazine’s 2014 Philadelphia Design Home sponsored by Comcast Xfinity and Real Mom Media which included a tour of the Philadelphia Design Home and the Comcast features of the home. I received a Samsung Tab4 from Comcast to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting up with some local bloggers for an awesome Lunch and Learn session featuring Comcast Xfinity’s newest features at the 2014 Philadelphia Magazine Design Home.  Located in beautiful Wydmoor, PA, this home is an absolutely stunning creation featuring modern, classy, high end design and all of the amenities anyone could ever dream of in a home.

Too many cars?  No problem – just stack them…

Need more closet space? Heck – make a whole room or three of them…

Gorgeous jaw-dropping kitchen WITH a pantry -CHECK!

A bathroom with stand up showers, sauna and soaking tub?  uh huh…

A man (or Mom) cave in the basement, complete with a no excuses I can’t get to the gym room – Of course!

A whole floor of play space for the kids?  You betcha!

A backyard oasis with bar, pool, seating galore, built in BBQ pit and any and everything else you could dream of – BOOYAH!

Oh – and did I mention – NINE bathrooms!!!  I kid you not!  There would definitely never be any fighting over getting ready in the hectic mornings – that’s for sure!

Ahhhhhh!!  Heaven, right?

And although a girl may dream (I likely will never have a home of this magnitude),  I was especially excited to learn how I can upgrade my current home with the new Comcast Xfinity features!  During the tour, we had the opportunity to learn about all of the fantastic – and amazing new features available through Comcast Xfinity.

The Xfinity X1 system really won me over.  With this versatile and user friendly system, customers can customize their viewing experience throughout the home.  For everything from controlling the TV with your phone to viewing Facebook photos and music right through your TV, the experience really is anything and everything you want it to be. To help you decide a movie to watch, you can flip through movie reviews, you do not have to wait until a show in the guide is actually on, instead you can watch it now if you like!  You can also make playlists of your favorite shows and record up to 12 shows at one time! Best of all, you can watch your recordings in any room in the house!  The new remote is amazeballs too! Its Radio Frequency control ability allows you to change the channel from anywhere in the room – with no need to point and shoot directly at the box!  Love it!

We were also introduced to the incredible line of Xfinity apps.  Did you even know they existed?!   I certainly did not prior to my visit!  Wow!  What have I been missing??  Some of the most interesting I learned about: the Xfinity WiFi App – which allows you to locate and get directions to millions of Xfinity WiFi hotspots in cities nationwide, the  Xfinity My Account App – which allows you to pay your bill, check your connection status, manage your appointments and troubleshoot technical issues, the Xfinity TV Remote, which allows you to use your smartphone or tablet as a remote control – Change channels, browse Xfinity On Demand and TV listings, and even schedule your DVR when you’re away from home!  Wowzers!!

Finally – the new Xfinity Home service really blew my mind – in a “George Jetson” kind of way.  With the new Xfinity home security system, you  literally can control items in your home even when you are away!  For instance if you forgot to turn on lights for when you return, you can do so right through an app on your phone.  Or maybe the temperature dropped a little more than expected, you can adjust the thermostat with a click of your phone, computer or tablet!  Forget to turn off your iron?  No problem – turning it off is just a click away!  You can even opt for video monitoring where you can check in on what is going on in your home!  Talk about piece of mind – it’s just awesome!
