Annie at the Academy of Music In Philadelphia

Disclosure: My daughter and I received two complimentary tickets to Annie at the Academy of Music in exchange for promotion and review of the show. All opinions, as always, are my own.

Thursday evening I had the pleasure of surprising my 8-year-old daughter with a Mommy-Daughter Night Out to see Annie at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia.  I am still not sure who was more excited – her or me, but what I can tell you is that this show was absolutely fantastic!

Annie has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl.  I remember seeing Annie for the first time at the movies with my cousin Alison.  Alison and I would sing the songs over and over again while pretending to be orphans in the orphanage and taking turns being Annie.  As my sister got older, she too, grew fond of Annie as well and next thing I knew it was playing over and over on VHS on our TV.  Annie is such a fun, happy memory of my childhood and every time I hear one of the familiar tunes, it brings me right back to those good old days!

I never did have the chance to see Annie on Broadway and being that it has always been a dream of mine to do so, I was over the moon to have this opportunity to bring my daughter to the show right here in Philadelphia.

My daughter was recently introduced to Annie by going to the movies to see the newest Annie movie with my Mother-in-law.  She absolutely LOVED it and has been singing all of the songs ever since.  I knew she would love the musical even more – and I couldn’t think of a better way to introduce her to my very own love of the theater.  I am hoping this is just the beginning of many Mommy-Daughter dates to the theater in our future.

We loved everything about the show from the awesome actors to the familiar tunes that you cannot help but sing along with. Annie includes such unforgettable songs as “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You,” plus the ever popular, “Tomorrow.” We were blown away by the talent of the children in the show as well as the glorious voices of each of the cast members.  I cannot recommend the show enough!

Annie is currently on stage at the beautiful Academy of Music  right here in Philadelphia and runs through Sunday March 22, 2015.  Tickets are still available for Sunday’s 1 PM show.  If you are considering seeing the show, be sure to grab those tickets HERE while you can.
