Don’t Let the Kids Drive You Crazy! Take them to Diggerland and Let them Drive Trucks!
It’s summer – and there is nothing my kids enjoy more than an awesome day trip to break up the summer routine. There is nothing worse than the kids bickering and driving me crazy at home, so I always do my best to plan out fun activities to keep them happy and active. Last week we were invited to check out Diggerland in West Berlin NJ and my kids wasted no time at all jumping out of bed at 7:30 AM to pack and head on our way! Located in West Berlin NJ, Diggerland is about a 40 minute ride from Delaware County PA. Situated next to Sahara Sam’s Indoor and Outdoor Water Park, there is also opportunity to make an entire day out of your visit while also purchasing tickets to the awesome indoor and outdoor water park just up the road.
At Diggerland, kids and families are invited to experience the thrill of driving, riding and operating real, modified JCB trucks and construction equipment. The rides require a minimum height of 36 inches and occassioanlly 42 inches to participate. Often if a child is too small to ride on an attraction alone, they may ride on the lap or under the supervision of a parent or guardian. All guests under 36 inches are free and there is a special kid zone playground perfect for little ones to enjoy.
Stretched out over 14 acres, Diggerland features over 25 awesome attractions that certainly appeal equally to adults and kids alike. With everything from full size excavators, dumper trucks, and backhoes to Skid-steers, mini land rovers and a ropes course and rock wall, there is plenty to do to keep busy for hours in this awesome, family friendly environment. I visited with my 8-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son and both kids equally enjoyed all that the park had to offer. They were thrilled to be able to drive most of the vehicles independently – and it was such a fun, unique experience unlike anywhere we have ever visited as a family. 
This year Diggerland has added a few new attractions otherwise known as ARGOs. These eight wheeled amphibious vehicles are quite rare to see here in the US, making the opportunity for families to drive them even cooler! Our visit happened to feature these fun rugged vehicles – and we had the opportunity to drive them before the park opened to the public. Considering it was both of my kids first time driving any vehicle, I must say – I was quite impressed! The staff was so super helpful, friendly and patient, making it a fun, yet safe experience for all. 
We spent the remainder of the morning and early afternoon exploring and driving every vehicle in the park. My kids especially enjoyed the diggers and showed their dare devil side as they climbed their way to the top of the giant rope climb. They giggled like hyeanas after talking me into going on the DizzySpin – not once but twice in a row (talk about a thrill ride!) and we ended our visit with a seat under the pavilion watching the thrill show. Overall – aside from the sweltering heat – we had an awesome day! To help get some relief from the heat, they do have spray fans throughout the park as well as benches with large umbrellas for shade. The gift shop and restrooms were a nice escape to enjoy some air conditioning as needed and there is plenty of shade under the pavilion where you can also rest and grab a bite to eat from the Dig Inn, their full service café. ( I should note that outside food and beverages are not permitted in the park.)
