It’s kid consignment season and I am on a tear!  Every fall and spring I roll up my sleeves and my adrenaline rush begins as I whip through my house like the Tasmanian Devil, pulling up everything in sight in my wind tunnel like a super torando (or so I think).  All kidding aside, it’s the perfect storm for me.  It’s not only opportunity to clean out the closets and drawers, the playroom and bedrooms and all of the random toys and accessories that have been piling up and laying out and about while making a few bucks, but it is also a great way to save on fall wardrobes and accessories, Halloween costumes, sports and baby gear and even possibly find a few holiday gifts!  Whew!  My heart is racing just thinking about it! With this time of year chuck full with expenses like back to school gear and necessities and sports registration fees and more, I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a better motivation to make some extra cash!

Last spring, I consigned with the Just Between Friends Western Mainline sale in Oaks for the first time. Although I have consigned at several other Delaware County area sales, I was a little intimidated at the thought of consigning with such a HUGE sale.  When I say HUGE I mean SUPER DUPER EXTRAORDINARILY HUGE!  Guess what?  Boy did I waste my worries!  This sale is not only do-able, it is so worth your time and energy – and there is a good chance you will find yourself excited about selling at the next one when you are through. Check out Why I LOVE Shopping and Consigning at the Just Between Friends Western Mainline Sale so much!

Selling at this sale could not be easier!  Gathering all the items at home for the sale is by far the toughest part.  Their website is chuck full of consignment sale tips and videos to help with the process of tagging and bagging items as well as pricing.  Entering items online and printing out the tags is so much easier than handwriting each one and it assures that items and prices are clearly visible.  And get yourself a tagging gun – trust me on this one – it makes life so much easier – you will certainly thank me for this tip later!  Another awesome perk of this sale is that you get to track your items online as they sell!  I absolutely love seeing this part at the end of each day.

Worried that with the sale being so big that your items may not sell? Don’t let these worries get the best of you. I had those very same worries and  I could not have been more wrong.  Out of 85 plus items that I put into the last sale, I only came home with around  8 items. This sale draws hundreds, maybe even thousands of shoppers and they are looking for bargains; it’s up to you to put those items of yours out there for their shopping pleasure – and your own monetary reward! Price competitively and those items are sure to fly off the racks! My answer – It is worth it  and there is very little out of pocket expense to do so. (Did you know that at last year’s fall sale the average consignor check was around $400?!) I kid you not!

As self motivation, I personally have begun looking at these fall and winter consignment sales as a mini job.  I work hard to produce a hearty consignment drop off in hopes of making money to pay off my shopping at the sale and or to use toward other miscellaneous expenses such as kids sport fees, etc.  For me, no matter how I look at it – it’s a win win and the JBF Western Mainline sale is the perfect way to go!  Seriously, there is nothing to lose – well other than your clutter – and we can all afford to lose a little (or a lot) of that, right?

Roll up your sleeves and get those tagging guns out!  There is still time to sign up to consign at this month’s Just Between Friends Western Mainline sale!  This year’s fall and winter kid consignment event will take place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center Hall A, 100 Station Avenue in Oaks, PA from September 24th through September 27th.  You can also keep up with all things JBF Western Mainline on Facebook and Twitter @JBFPhilly and using hashtag #JBFPhilly !

No excuses, people.  Even if you think you are too busy to tag, the Just Between Friends Western Mainline sale even offers a tagging service!  Be sure to check out the website for more details.

Looking for tips to help with tagging? Check out my Tips to Turn Kid Clutter to Cash when You Consign with #JBFPhilly.  If there is one thing that I learned about consigning over the years is that most people at the sale not only love a great deal, but they are also smart shoppers.  I always take the time to think about just how much I, myself, would be willing to pay for each and every item that I am pricing.  I use the 1/3 rule – meaning about 1/3 of what I paid for the item – and in some cases I even go a little lower. Guess what? It works – and it has been working for me every single time I sell!

Best of all – with this sale, not only can you make money, but you can save money as well by shopping it! Save on everything from fall wardrobes and accessories to baby gear, kid gear, toys, sports equipment, books, costumes and more!  In order to maximize your savings and make the most of your shopping experience, be sure to check out my handy Shopping Tips for Visiting Kid Consignment Sales.  Being a smart shopper will help maximize your savings.  Preparing a list and heading in with a budget before you shop will help keep your spending in check and help cut back on impulse buys.
