Lego Friends: Girlz 4 Life Movie Review

My daughter and I absolutely love planning movie night at home together. I’m always on the lookout for cute, age approriate films and DVDs that we can both enjoy together – and it’s a huge bonus if they are super girly. Last month Warner Bros released an awesome LEGO Friends Girlz 4 Life DVD and my daughter and I were thrilled for the opportunity to review it together.

LEGO Friends Girlz 4 Life features four friends, Olivia, Stephanie, Emma, Mia and Andrea, as they learn about friendship, fame and pop star fun in Heartlake City.  The girls’ friendships are tested when mega pop star Livi comes to Heartlake City. When our friends’ hit song “Girlz” is stolen by Livi’s manager, it’s time for a cunning plan. As the girls try to tell Livi the truth about her latest hit single, they all learn that fame isn’t everything and sometimes friendship is the most precious thing in the world.

The movie is vivid, colorful and full of catchy tunes and positive messages, which is an almost sure fire way to keep little eyes glued to the TV. The animation throughout the film is awesome and my daughter and I sat through the 76 minute film snuggled on the couch and humming along with the tunes. I will attest that this movie is uber girly, as I am pretty sure my son would not have lasted very long in front of the TV with us (and that was ok with us as sometimes we like to enjoy a girls only night together while my husband and son enjoy some guy time). My daughter loved everything from the friends overall looks to their cute, modern outfits and their fun, bubbly personalities. This is definitely a movie that is perfect for our girls nights together – or to pop on when friends stop over for a playdate. If your girls are excited about music, dancing and singing along, they are certainly in for a treat with this film! My daughter told me she hopes that LEGO makes even more of these DVDs so that we can look forward to watching more of them together.

If there is one thing I always try to teach my daughter – it is the importance of having girlfriends for life. LEGO certainly does a wonderful job showing girls the importance of friendship with fun films and toy sets such as LEGO Friends. Teaching these valuable lessons to our children while they are young is so very important and this film is another wonderful way to get that message across. This DVD would make a perfect gift, Easter Basket Stuffer or fun film to watch over spring break this week!
