Check Out Comcast Xfinity’s New Extreme Makeover! {& a Nest Thermostat Giveaway}

Comcast has been our family’s digital provider for quite a few years.  Over the years I have to admit – our relationship hasn’t always been sunshine and roses.  For the most part, we have had pretty reliable service.  I have found that overall their guides are user friendly and the programming offered always had fit out family’s needs. On the flip side, trying to call Comcast to ask a question or request assistance often ended up in extremely long call wait times on the phone, which were then routed to a call center outside of the country, resulting in disconnected calls, frustration, and me hanging up before I got my answers. And don’t even get me started on the need to visit a Comcast location to drop off a cable box or exchange a remote. How impersonal of a feeling did you get standing behind that bullet proof glass passing items to the customer service personnel?

Last week I was invited to visit the new Xfinity store in Willow Grove to learn more about Comcast Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Home’s features. Whoa! This is hardly what I was expecting when I arrived…

Check out the sleek, ultra-modern, welcoming look of the new stores.  I was mind-blown! The new stores are wide open, inviting and so chic.

Walking into the new Xfinity stores is certainly a much more customer service centered experience then ever before.  Staff is extremely welcoming.  There are comfortable chairs and screen TVs available to help you to relax if you encounter any wait times. (Although I wouldn’t expect much wait time – there was ample staff available during our visit and ready to assist customers in minimal time.)

I love that the stores are set up so that representatives can bring customers to the equipment to demonstrate how to not only use the products, but how to get the most of the services they are paying for. These representatives are incredibly professional and knowledgeable yet so approachable and enthusiastic.  They obviously love what they do – and it makes the experience that much more enjoyable.

During our visit, we had the opportunity to experience and learn about Xfinity X1 TV, Internet, Voice and Home Services. During the presentation we were told that “our top priority is changing our customers experience for the better.” I must say – I truly think that Comcast has really taken this idea and created a whole new experience that not only impresses but really addresses what customers want and need. Best of all, Comcast is a local company that was started right here in Philadelphia and has not only stayed but has continued to expand creating more local jobs. And as you already probably know, I LOVE supporting local businesses – especially ones that really care about their customers.

Xfinity X1 TV offers an overwhelmingly impressive personalized, interactive experience. Not only do customers have accesses to hundreds of channels, but it also includes a DVR that can record up to six shows at once while watching live TV, Xfinity on Demand, with access to episodes of many popular shows and movies, ready to watch when you are, and apps that allow you to not only watch at home, but also on the go through your tablet or phone! How incredibly awesome is that?

As if that is not enough, Xfinity has stepped up their game to include a voice activated control that even the biggest kid in the house (ahem) will love playing with! Voice commands allow you to change channels, search for shows, get recommendations and more!

When we asked Xfinity for Ryan Gosling, not only did we get information about him, but also a listing of all of his movies available for our viewing pleasure. {sigh!} I can certainly get used to this.

Xfinity X1 also uses its smart technology to monitor what you love to watch so that it can personalize recommendations for more shows and movies based on what you watch most often. A TV that reads your mind?  I’m floored.

And even with all of this vast programming available, Comcast kept in mind the need for good parental controls to keep TV viewing safe for our children.  Common Sense Media offers integrated ratings and reviews that hep parents to determine what content is appropriate for different ages. And there is also a Kids Zone, which is a safe and secure place for kids to independently explore their favorite programming as well as discover new programming.  Parents have the ability to block any programming they feel inappropriate for both kids and teens with the use of a special passcode. So parents can have piece of mind knowing that their family is enjoying family-friendly programming that is suitable for even their youngest audience members.

Oh and let’s not forget the Xfinity apps! To be perfectly honest, I am currently an X1 customer and embarrassingly,  I was not aware of the fact that the Xfinity apps allow me to watch programming outside of the home. By downloading these apps to your phone or tablet, you can bring your programming on the go with you!  This is especially great for keeping my kids entertained while in waiting rooms or to help pass the time when boredom sets in or you can download favorites to take along on trips to keep you entertained while travelling. For those trying to keep up with an exercise routine like me, you will also have the ability to record and download workouts that you can do while you are home or away. And for sports gurus like my husband, the X1 Sports app allows you track not only track mulitple games at once, but you can also check the scores and standings – all while watching another game.  Now that is multitasking at its best! If you are an Xfinity customer – I highly recommend checking out all of these apps and take advantage if you are not already doing so.

Comcast also offers security for your home with its Xfinity Home services. Not only do these services offer 24/7 security monitoring,  Xfinity Home offers at home or on the go access with a touch screen console and can also be accessed through the Xfinity Home app on your mobile devices.  Save money by controlling your lights and thermostat remotely.

You can even enjoy piece of mind with notifications that can be set up when a door is opened, etc. Live video monitoring is also available, which giving you the ability to check in on pets and family members while you are away. With these home services you certainly will be protected, connected and in control.

I cannot begin to tell you how glad I am that I took the time out to attend this awesome session and get to check out Xfinity’s new makeover.  Not only was I incredibly impressed with the presentation, but I am so excited to have learned so many new things about my service that I had no idea that it provided. At the Xfinity store, you can experience X1 first hand before you buy, talk to specialists and get help troubleshooting any issues you may have. Appointments for installation are now a 2 hour window, which is much less wait time for you! Xfinity customer service personnel can not only be reached by phone but also via live chat, the Xfinitity account app, Twitter and in person at the Xfinity store. (Bye bye long wait times on the phone!) All of these options are fantastic! Not only can you schedule appointments through your account app, but soon you will also be able to track your technician’s arrival time and see a picture of him or her right on your screen before he or she arrives.  No surprises and so much safer – I love that!

It has been so much fun exploring the apps at home and taking advantage of all the programming and extras that my Xfinity service offers.  I want to send out a big kudos to Comcast for not only listening to customer feedback, but for really going the extra mile to make the Xfinity experience a more frustration-free, easygoing experience for its customers.  It truly makes all the difference. I can honestly say that all of the new changes that Comcast has provided makes me a happier customer and excited to share all that Xfinity has to offer with my readers and friends.
