Enhancing Your Home and Your Lifestyle with Comcast Xfinity {& an Amazon Tap Giveaway}

I don’t know about you, but my family and I are HGTV Junkies! It’s not unusual to find us nestled on the sofa on a Sunday afternoon nibbling on some popcorn with our Xfinity voice controlled remote in hand binge watching all of the most recent episodes of Fixer Upper, House Hunters, Love It or List It, Property Brothers – well you get the gist.  We are THAT family.

Home is our happy place.  We may not have the biggest home and we may never have a kitchen like this

or a closet like this

or a bedroom like this

or a garage like this

But everyone can dream, right?

In all seriousness – no matter what shape or size home, we absolutely love spending family time together inside of our space and lately we have been having some fun doing some little updates and upgrades here and there to give our favorite place a little face lift.  Let’s just say we have been all about inspiration these days!

Last week I was invited by Comcast to tour this year’s 2017 Philadelphia Magazine Design Home for an #XfinityMoms Event and my gosh is it stunning!   Located in Wynnewood PA, the beautiful 6000+ square foot home features everything from a screened in porch with fireplace and 84 inch television, perfect for winding down after a long, hard day, a beautiful outdoor deck complete with a stunning view of the woods, trees and grounds that surround the home, an extensive master bedroom with the most amazing his and hers closets I have ever seen as well as a lovely outdoor patio off of the master bedroom, its very own massage room, a gourmet chef’s kitchen with pantry so gorgeous I think I may cry if I had the opportunity to actually cook and entertain in it.  I kid you not – this place is what dream homes are made of.  Not only is it the perfect open floor plan, it is impeccably designed and decorated in a way that is just captivating.

But despite how grand and lavish it may seem, what I loved the most about this home is that is has such a warm, inviting feel.  I could definitely see coming here with my family and having fun.  I could see gathering around and enjoying family time. And what I did take away was a lot of great ideas that I could certainly incorporate into my own little home!

No matter how big or small a home may be, I am a true believer that home should be a place where you where you can relax, where you can entertain, where you can raise a family and create memories and above all, a haven where you always feel safe and secure with the ones you love.

The more events I attend as a part of the #XfinityMoms team, the more I believe that Comcast truly is listening to what their customers want and need.  Over the years, I have seen many positive changes from customer service based changes to new Xfinity stores where you can meet with customer service representatives in person, learn about products and actually enjoy an one-on-one in-person experience. In this busy world, Comcast really has stepped up their game in understanding that convenience is important to customers.  They are listening and I do believe it is making a positive difference in many ways. I have been a Comcast customer for many years and I can say first hand that I have absolutely found that the changes Comcast has made have made my personal experience the most user friendly it has ever been.

Prior to attending the #XfinityMoms events, I honestly was missing out on many features of Xfinity that I was not aware were available to me.  For instance, Xfinity has a range of apps that can be downloaded to your phone.  No worries about losing your remote because one app allows you to control your TV right through an app! There is also an Xfinity Stream app that not only allows you to stream your favorite shows TV live through your smart phone or tablet but also DVR shows, Xfinity on Demand and up to 10 downloaded shows or movies to take along for travel, college or anywhere on the go.   So many options right at your fingertips.  As a Mom I find these options especially helpful for travel and for the car, doctors appointments, siblings sports games, and to help break up the fight as to who is going to watch what on TV!

As for me, I’m pretty sure you would most likely find me out here streaming one of my favorite shows through Xfinity Stream on my iPad with a glass of wine and my feet propped.  With this kind of scenery, I may never go back inside! (Ahhh the inspiration!!)

Again with Xfinity no matter where you are, you can pay your Comcast bills right through an app, as well as port questions through to customer service, change service plans and more! If you are an Xfinity customer and not already taking advantage of them, I highly recommend checking out the Comcast Xfinity apps in more detail to see what you are missing!

Xfinity now also has a partnership with Netflix so watching your Netflix movies and shows on your screen has never been easier.  With Xfinity X1 you can now stream your Netflix shows and movies right through your TV – with no need to change inputs or remote controls! Family movie night has never been better! Another cool feature I am digging is being able to view your Instagram and Facebook photos right through your TV screen!  How much fun would it be to use this feature to display pictures during upcoming graduation parties or for bridal or baby showers or other special milestones, anniversaries, birthdays or gatherings?

And for those of you with little ones who are concerned about your children surfing through channels that may not be appropriate for them, Xfinity offers Common Sense Media which helps parents determine what content is age appropriate, parental control options as well as a safe Kids Zone where kids can independently surf and explore new content that is age appropriate for them.

Of course when it comes to upgrading our home, safety is always a priority. Xfinity Home has some really awesome features that I would love to be able to incorporate into my own home and I have had this at the top of my wish list for some time now.  With options including 24 hour security monitoring and live video monitoring which lets you check in on your home remotely from your phone or iPad, you can gift your family peace of mind knowing your home is secure whether you are home or away.  Nothing is more precious than my family.

I love that with this option I could potentially check in on my kids as they arrive home from school while I am still at work or turn up the heat from my phone if we are on our way home from travelling and had chosen to turn the heat down or off while we were away.  In the long run, Xfinity Home can  save money by helping you manage your energy consumption with the ability to set controls on your lights and thermostat and adjust them remotely as needed. Brilliant!

Check out how sleek the security design is.  I love how the sensors are small and blend into the decor. The system is set up to record up to 10 days of live video monitoring as well as real time notifications when doors are opened in your home etc. I can’t imagine a better upgrade than the ability to feel protected, connected and in control of your home.

But just when I thought Xfinity had it all covered – BAM! Just this week, Comcast launched the new Xfinity xFi, a new and personalized Wi-Fi experience that provides a simple digital dashboard for customers to set up their home Wi-Fi network, find their password, see what devices are connected, troubleshoot issues, set parental controls and even pause Wi-Fi access as they see fit.  xFi is giving customers the control the want and deserve over one of the most important technologies in their home, your Wi-Fi. The xFi experience can be controlled via a mobile app, website and on the TV with the X1 voice remote. Getting started is easy.  Customers can sign up at  www.xfinity.com/myxfi or download the xFi app (for iOS and Android). xFi is now available to the 10 million Xfinity Internet customers with a compatible Xfinity WiFi device – the xFi Wireless Gateway or the xFi Advanced Gateway -and comes at no extra cost. What a relief as a parent to finally have the ability to set bedtime controls on your wifi as well as monitoring the overall activity to be able to understand exactly who is using what. Since the service is so new, I am eager to learn more about this new addition and to see how this is going to be most beneficial to our family.

Last but not least – I cannot tell you how excited I was to learn that Xfinity is currently working to release a mobile service plan that sounds incredible – and I cannot wait until they get it up and rolling! As a family of 5 – who now are ALL on one mobile phone plan, I can tell you, monthly overage charges are stressful!  (Pass the wine, please).  Since we all share a family data plan with a set number of GB per month on our plan, once we hit that magic number, the overage charges hit hard – and boy are they a bear! With Xfinity mobile, customers will save money by paying only for the GB that you use or have the option of unlimited GB for one set price, whichever is the better price option based on overall usage. Customers will have the ability to auto connect to millions of Xfinity Wifi hotspots, saving even more data. Families will also have the flexibility to mix and match on the account to pay for data the way that works best for them.  And there will be no penalties for switching back and forth between data options, so if you find that you are almost at max before the end of your cycle, you can call and change to the unlimited plan without a penalty. Best of all, you can use the Xfinity Mobile App to make changes to your plan from the convenience of your home, office, or anywhere, anytime of day or night – it really is that convenient!  Isn’t that awesome? Stay tuned!  This is something definitely worth looking into! YAY! this cannot come soon enough!

All and all I had an absolutely wonderful day visiting the stunning 2017 Philadelphia Magazine Design Home and learning all about all of the latest and greatest that Xfinity has to offer.  There is no doubt that when it comes to enhancing today’s home and lifestyle that technology is right up there with style and decor!  I’m not sure about you, but for our family, a home is not just about the beauty, it’s also most importantly about the comfort, joy, entertainment, comfort and safety that it brings our family – and thanks to a little help from Xfinity (and HGTV, Pinterest and the Philadelphia Magazine Design Home) I think we are on the right track with upgrades to our precious space we call home.
