PAWS for Reading at Middletown Free Library
2 PM
“PAWS for Reading is a program that allows children to read aloud to a therapy dog (or cat, or bunny!) in order to improve reading and communication skills. Children read individually to trained therapy pets (and their handlers) in schools, libraries, or other settings where they can feel comfortable and confident — and have fun! After all, a dog will not correct them or make them feel awkward if they stumble.”
MFL is a participating library in PAWS for Reading program! We have enough spaces per visit for 12 kids/readers. We recommend ages 5+ or any one who can read aloud.
Readers are limited to 10 minutes of reading aloud to a pet, but can read on their own or enjoy the library while waiting. Register for each individual child you will be bringing (do not include yourself or caregivers in the number).
If you register but do not show-up without notice, you will forfeit any future sign-ups for this program. Those unable to sign up are welcome to come and take any open space that may happen from no-shows!
This program is sponsored and made possible by Media Veterinary Hospital!
CLICK HERE to reserve your spot(s) for your preferred session(s)!

Arts in the Park: Sweetbriar Rose!
6 PM – 7:30 PM
at Glen Providence Park Media PA
For the final performance in our free and family-friendly 2018 Arts in the Park, Friends of Glen Providence Park is delighted to present Sweetbriar Rose! They’re a band of rootsy, thorny, rose-hipped gypsies who you’re equally likely to glimpse running in full sun, barefoot on a field of bluegrass, brooding in three-part harmony over a murder ballad in a shady grove, or channeling the spirit of a 1940’s Balkan jazz joint. If you heard them through the wall, you might imagine a stray melody from the carnival caravan was whirling and beckoning just on the other side of the darkened woods.
Bring a blanket or chair, and relax on the lawn by the historical stage for an evening concert. After the performance, head into Media for dinner and shopping, just 2 blocks away on State Street.
