Set in the 1920s, we follow Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart, two murders as they fight for the media spotlight in Chicago. The truth slips away as fame begins to grow. The musical, with music by John Kander and the book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, opened on Broadway in 1975 and ran for 936 performances until 1977. The musical has been made into a major motion picture that won the Academy Award for Best Picture and in 1996 was revived for Broadway and is still running today.

A fun, family-friendly event where we will use household items to build a trap to “catch a leprechaun.” We will have household items & St. Patrick’s Day crafts on hand. Participants are welcome to bring their own crafts as well. After the traps are created, they will be on display in the library for the week, and family, friends and residents are welcome to come vote for their favorite trap. PMG’s current exhibition “Patterns of Obsession” highlights the unconventional approach to painting and color taken by artists Claes Gabriel and Andrew Chalfen. Today’s family-friendly craft draws inspiration from the exhibit as well as traditional alebrijes, a form of Mexican folk art which employs brilliant colors and patterns to produce fantastical animals. Discover authentic alebrijes at PMG and make a creature to take home!
Family-friendly tours will be held at 1:00, 2:30, and 3:30 PM to learn more about PMG and the Mexican folk art throughout the space.
