Wildlife Photowalks are designed to photograph all kinds of wildlife including birds, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, insects, wildflowers, etc., while we learn how to do it well and avoid wildlife photography pitfalls. We discuss technique, gear, and essential knowledge about photography and wildlife. A desire to make great wildlife images, and a good camera and lens are all that’s needed, though a lens with an effective focal length of at least 200mm to 300mm is very helpful.

Film and Discussion: Solace
Enjoy a screening of Solace (2018), a coming-of-age independent film from writer-director Tchaiko Omawale, that tells the story of a 17 year-old orphan who is shipped off to her estranged grandmother and plots her escape while navigating a foreign environment, new friendships and a hidden eating disorder.
Watch it in the Comcast NBCUniversal Auditorium.
The screening will be followed by a discussion between the filmmaker and BlackStar Film Festival founder Maori Karmael Holmes.
Free tickets are available on-site at 10am, include collection access, and are limited to four per person. Families with children under 18 get priority access to the collection at the time of arrival. Tickets go fast, but you don’t need one to enjoy our other activities and performances.
