As part of the Bring Your Own Project initiative, Fleisher Art Memorial partnered with Women Organized Against Rapest and connected with Latina community members who had shared cultural and social roots as migrant women. Together as sisters, they took on the challenge of confronting the adversities in their lives that provoked fear and blocked them from freely expressing their emotions. Through hands-on art-making, a strong and supportive social fabric formed, built on inclusion, trust, and safety, they created a moving installation comprised of recycled materials, including 60,000 soda tabs.

Open Studio: Leroy Johnson
Drop by the Mural Arts Philadelphia Studio to meet mixed-media artist Leroy Johnson and learn more about his creative work. Leroy was selected for residency at the Barnes as a part of our Let’s Connect project.
Saxophonist Mike Monford will also be there, adding his creative sound—a fusion of bebop, hip-hop, and avant-garde jazz.
Performance: Intercultural Journeys
Intercultural Journeys presents Modupúe | Ibaye, an interactive performance exploring the Yoruba culture of West Africa and the Caribbean.
Interactive Art: The Renegade Company
The Renegade Company returns to the Barnes with an interactive mix of story, art, and craft. You’re invited to take part in a re-creation of Matisse’s iconic painting The Joy of Life, using hands-on weaving techniques. Hear folk stories inspired by the art as you work.

Science Sparks

at Hagley Museum
Explore a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities to challenge your creativity during your school’s summer break!
Science Sparks! is a drop-in event and is included in regular museum admission and free for members.
Activities can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, but are geared toward ages 6 through 12.
Located on the 2nd floor of the Visitor Center.

Upper Chichester Parade & Car Show
1 PM – 3 PM
at Chichester High School 3333 Chichester Ave, Boothwyn PA
The parade will be leaving the Chichester Senior High School at 1 PM. Claasic car setup will begin on the grounds 1 hour prior. This is a FREE event and fun for both children and adults. We will have interactive events for kids, a DJ providing entertainment, door prizes and awards. Bring the kids…Wave to the crowd while riding in the parade….Enjoy a homemade lunch, and so much more. All this will be taking place in a beautiful park setting. This will be a premier event and a fun day for both adults and children.
Please note that if you choose to forgo the parade, you can proceed directly to the Community Day Fairgrounds located on Furey Road in Aston PA, alongside the police station.
