Drop by the Mural Arts Philadelphia Studio at the Barnes to meet mixed-media artist Leroy Johnson and learn more about his work. Leroy was selected for residency at the Barnes as a part of our Let’s Connect project.
Music: Mallet Percussion
Hear vibraphones, marimbas, and other mallet instruments played by expert musicians, and learn more about their origins.
Interactive Art: The Renegade Company
You’re invited to help create a woven version of Matisse’s The Joy of Life. Hear folk stories about the art as you work.
Come back in September and October to see the progress, and celebrate the finished piece November 3 with a joyful dance performance that brings the art to life.

Franklin Square becomes a summer oasis without the shore traffic as lawn games, musical chairs, bocce, and volleyball fill the Great Lawn with fun for all ages and prizes. Join us for yoga at 11 am, the Colonial Kids’ Quest puppet show from 12:15-12:45 pm, and daytime Fountain Shows from noon to 2 pm.

Explore a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities to challenge your creativity during your school’s summer break!
Science Sparks! is a drop-in event and is included in regular museum admission and free for members.
Activities can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, but are geared toward ages 6 through 12.
