Lawn and bench seating is available through the Main Fountain garden. Brooms are often one of the most overlooked–but essential–tools in the colonial household. Broom making allows us to turn simple, natural materials into objects of usefulness and beauty. In this class we will use broom corn to craft a small whisk broom with a short wooden handle (the broom pictured is a larger one made by one of our staff for use in the house). Some hand strength is required as the cord needs to be pulled quite tight.

Fun in the Sun-days at Franklin Square

Franklin Square becomes a summer oasis without the shore traffic as lawn games, musical chairs, bocce, and volleyball fill the Great Lawn with fun for all ages and prizes. Join us for yoga at 11 am, the Colonial Kids’ Quest puppet show from 12:15-12:45 pm, and daytime Fountain Shows from noon to 2 pm.

at Hagley Museum
Explore a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities to challenge your creativity during your school’s summer break!
Science Sparks! is a drop-in event and is included in regular museum admission and free for members.
Activities can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages, but are geared toward ages 6 through 12.
Located on the 2nd floor of the Visitor Center.
