Disclosure: My family and I were invited to a complimentary visit to Jack’s Pumpkin Glow. All opinions are my own.
Looking for a way to light up your Halloween fun this year? Pack up the family and head for a ride to Fairmount Park in Philadelphia to experience this year’s Jack’s Pumpkin Glow.
Formerly known as “The Glow”, Jack’s Pumpkin Glow is a wonderland of intricately carved pumpkins all set aglow along a looped path approximately 1/3 of a mile long and grouped into fun landscapes, backdrops and mind blowing structures made up of groups of pumpkins stacked together and carved to form larger than life creations.
The details are absolutely amazing. Carvings range from basic Jack o’ lantern faces to highly detailed characters, animals, historical figures, sports teams and famous faces.
There are over 6000 pumpkins to take in at your leisure and you will likely find yourself snapping photos like the paparazzi as you try to capture all of the creativity and innovation.
Jack’s Pumpkin Glow experience is definitely family friendly. We did not find it to be scary or overwhelming for the children that were there when we visited. It is stroller accessible and all of the carved pumpkins and displays are roped off for safety.
It took my family and I about 30 minutes to make our way through the experience. You walk through at your leisure and may take more or less time depending on how long you spend viewing each area.
If this experience doesn’t inspire you to go home and carve pumpkins, I am not sure what will! Lucky for you, there is a small pumpkin patch at the end of the experience where you can pick out pumpkins and purchase them to take home and put your very own creativity to work! Master carvers are also on-hand demonstrating their work under a tent for visitors to see and get some inspiration for their own pumpkin carving at home.
At the beginning and end of the experience you will also find food and beverage options such as hot chocolate and apple cider as well as a beer garden with picnic tables to sit and relax. Portable restrooms are also available for guests in this area.
Jack’s Pumpkin Glow, located in West Fairmount Park (5201 Parkside Avenue) adjacent to the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia, runs Thursday through Sunday nights October 5 through November 3. Tickets start at just $16.99 for children and $22.99 for adults. Advance tickets are required and are timed (30 minute intervals) to keep the crowds under control. Tickets can be purchased online HERE. Don’t pay full price for tickets! Be sure to take advantage of our special code DIVAGLOW to save 20% off tickets (excluding anytime tickets). Onsite parking is $5. I suggest getting there a few minutes early! The parking area gets busy and despite being well directed, it may add a few extra minutes. Be sure to give a few minutes for the walk from the parking lot to the beginning of the experience as well.
Do you have a Fall/Halloween Bucket List? I highly recommend adding this one to your list if so! What a fun new tradition to start with your family!
