Experience The Philadelphia Zoo in a Whole New Light at This Season’s Magical LuminNature Light and Music Experience

This post is sponsored by The Philadelphia Zoo. All opinions are my own.

The holidays are my absolute favorite time of the year. For me it is not about all of the gifts; rather, it is about the experiences and creating memories with my family.  I am always so excited about throwing together a bucket list of places to visit and fun things to do.  Spending time together laughing and experiencing the magic of the holiday is all the gift I could ever need or want.  My kids are getting older, but I refuse to let that Christmas magic sizzle.  Despite the fact that much of their free time is now spent with friends, our family holiday traditions and the new ones we continue to add as the years come and go is something they absolutely love.  I know in my heart that spending this time together and capturing our joy together in pictures on our journeys are priceless gifts we will all treasure for a lifetime. I cannot tell you how excited I was for the opportunity to add a new experience to my holiday bucket list this year.

This year, The Philadelphia Zoo has created a brand new winter experience that is joyous, stunning and perfectly festive for all ages.  LumiNature, presented by JP Morgan Chase & Co., has transformed the zoo into a magical journey of lights, music, sounds and surprises! My family and I were invited to check out the very first peek at this dazzling holiday experience last week and it truly is a beautiful sight to see!

I had the pleasure of sharing this amazing experience with my Mom and daughter Hailey and it was a perfect girls night out and a wonderful start to the holiday season!

We all agreed that the Northern Lights experience featuring a 35 foot polar bear named Polaris had all of the magic and feels of a Disney-quality encounter. Watching the snow falling thanks to the magic of lights and seeing the magic of our planet come to life during the experience was absolutely stunning.

As you stroll through, you will suddenly experience the zoo in a whole new way. Twelve magnificent experiences feature more than 600,000 lights which glimmer and glisten among hundreds of illuminated penguins, oversized bold-colored illuminated flowers, a 21-feet tall brilliant colored snake, giant cat eyes glowing in the dark of night, and a 25-foot tree made entirely of lit flamingo lawn ornaments! It truly is a glorious sight to see.

“We are thrilled to bring LumiNature to Philadelphia Zoo,” said Philadelphia Zoo Chief Marketing Officer Amy Shearer. “This tailor-made fantastical adventure brings the joy of animals, nature and the holiday season together in a way that will take your breath away.” “LumiNature is set to be the most unique and memorable holiday-season light extravaganza in the entire Philadelphia and tri-state region,” added Shearer.

To add to the festive fun, seasonal fare, strolling performers, hot chocolate and ever-warming adult beverages allow time to sit, relax, unwind and add a little leisure time (and extra fun) to the experience.

The experience would be as perfect for a date night or friends night out as it is for a family outing.

Some things to consider when planning to visit:

  • LumiNature is open November 20th through January 5th. LumiNature Value Nights allow you to save on admission on Wednesdays and Thursdays November 20 through December 4.
  • LumiNature is a timed ticketed event. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance at  https://phillyzooluminature.org/ and plan on arriving at least 20 minutes prior to your reservation to allow time for parking and entrance.
  • This is an evening event and some areas are a bit dark.  Wear comfortable shoes and use caution when walking along the paths that are dimly lit.
  • Bundle in layers and consider bringing hats and gloves for all and perhaps a blanket for young ones in strollers.  This is an outdoor experience and it is best to dress in layers to keep warm when standing around enjoying the experiences.

Crossing fingers that The Philadelphia Zoo will continue to bring back LumniNature each year as a yearly holiday tradition for all to enjoy!
