Get Inspired to Make the Most of Your Xfinity Services, at Home and On the Go

There’s nothing like a little inspiration from a new, beautiful home to get the ideas churning for your own home bucket list. Philadelphia Magazine’s 2019 Design Home does not disappoint. Located in Villanova PA, this stunning home, designed by Mark K. Weiss, is modern farmhouse revival at its best.

Both inside and out, the home is meticulously designed to embrace style, comfort and beauty with some amenities beyond my wildest dreams.

Each room is styled with grace and elegance yet eludes a warm, inviting vibe that really sets it apart from typical new homes of today.

It was such a treat to be invited by Comcast to tour and enjoy the home for a few hours last week along with some of my favorite local social media influencers and to learn all about some of the newest things being offered by Xfinity. I cannot express how much I not only enjoyed the day but walked away with an abundance of inspiration.

With more than 7,300 square feet of space, five bathrooms, six bedrooms, and an awesome basketball court, this property is truly a dream. The home has such clean lines with beautiful neutral tones combined with random pops of color thanks to interesting pieces of art, décor and furniture.

Light pours into every room from the mind-boggling number of windows, many which run almost floor to ceiling. Each room allows you to take in the beauty and landscape of the outdoors while nestled in the comfort of the cozy yet luxurious interior.

My mind screamed “ultimate staycation” as I took in every nook and cranny.

And although my mind swelled with “Can you imagine living in this place?” and “Wow! Can it get any more amazing than this?” I knew at the end of the day that although I may not be capable of owning this breath-taking home, I can easily incorporate some of the ideas of the space, especially its high-tech features from Xfinity, right into my own cozy home.

One thing I learned for sure is that despite being a long-standing Xfinity subscriber, I certainly have not been taking full advantage of the many perks and services available to me (and all Xfinity customers)! Why? Because I simply did not realize all the new products and services offered to me!

Have you been taking advantage of all that Xfinity has to offer in your home? Here are a few of the newer perks and offerings and some tips that really can make a huge difference in your overall Xfinity experience:

Upgrade Your Cable Box and Equipment and Request Your WIFI Password Right on the TV

While nestled by the fireplace in the TV room, I spotted a sleek, modern cable box and gateway (formerly referred to as a modem). When I inquired about the boxes and the sleek new design, I was told that I customers can exchange their old, bulkier equipment for new devices including the new xFi Gateway for Xfinity Internet subscribers free of charge at their local Xfinity store. The new devices are less obtrusive and blend much easier into the overall décor. Plus, they offer new features and capabilities, too! It’s amazing how such a simple, subtle change can be so much more pleasing to the eye. We also discussed how one’s router should be kept in the center of your home for the best overall reception. I was also surprised to learn that I no longer need to scramble for that paper on which I scratched down our household’s Wi-Fi password. Rather, with a quick voice command into my Xfinity Voice Remote, “What is my Wi-Fi Password?” Boom! The Wi-Fi password will pop right up on the TV screen! This is just one of those new features offered through the Xfinity xFi Gateway! How did I not know this and how awesome is this for when guests pop by and would like to connect with your home’s Wi-Fi while they are visiting?

Take Advantage of the Xfinity X1 Sports Experience

With the holidays just around the corner, I know we will be having lots of guests and family in and out of the home. Guests in my home often coincide with folks gathered around the TV. Thanksgiving is just one example where just about everyone in the family will be hovered around watching football. There is no doubt that Xfinity X1 is the ultimate sports companion, allowing viewers to not only watch the game live, but to also view scores, get stats, and track multiple games all at the same time right on one screen! This is yet another detail my family was not taking advantage of and I am pretty sure is my husband and son’s newest favorite feature. No doubt this feature will be in full effect this Thanksgiving!

Stay in Control with Kids Zone and Parental Controls

Since the adults and kids are not always watching the same thing on TV, it is so convenient that not only does Xfinity have a Kids Zone with an awesome selection of kids shows, kid- friendly holiday programs and plenty of family movies, but Xfinity also offers parental controls with protected passwords which give peace of mind when you are not in the room with the kids watching TV or navigating on their phones and iPads. This is why Xfinity xFi has rolled out a number of parental controls. I am a big fan of the ability to utilize “Bedtime Mode” to turn off my children’s Wi-Fi at bedtime so they are not tempted to stay up too late watching TV or surfing the net. As a parent it gives me peace of mind knowing that I can be in control of what the children are watching regardless of where they are in my home.

Change the Way You Navigate with Voice Commands

If you are anything like me, there is a good chance that you will be spending much of your time in the kitchen this holiday season. Wouldn’t it be a dream to hang out in the kitchen with a few of your favorite Food Network Stars? Thanks to Xfinity X1 you can. With a quick voice command into your voice remote, you can request “Food Network Cooking Shows” and before you know it you will be right there in the kitchen cooking right along with your favorite Food Network chefs – whether they’re live on TV, On Demand or even on YouTube! Or, say “Hallmark Channel” and instantly you will be baking while watching your favorite Hallmark movies! (Now that’s the spirit!) With the Xfinity Voice Remote, it’s easier than ever for everyone in the house to quickly control the TV without fumbling with the buttons!

Experience the Convenience of Integrated Xfinity Apps

As if all of this isn’t awesome enough, let’s not forget that Xfinity X1 also has awesome integrated apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, NPR, Pandora, iHeart Radio, Sling International and more! (Hulu is coming soon too!) As if Xfinity hasn’t already turned the entertainment experience to a whole new, more convenient than ever level, this is just the cherry on top for entertainment lovers like me! I love that I can draw a bubble bath and relax while catching up on my favorite DVR’d shows on my iPad, or sneak out to my deck outside and sip on some wine while listening to my favorite Music Choice channels – all right from my phone using the Xfinity Stream app!

Download the Xfinity Apps and Utilize them at Home and on the Go

Unfortunately, as much as we enjoy spending time inside the home, let’s face it – life is busy and most days we find ourselves on the run. Thanks to Xfinity Apps, you can enjoy Xfinity as much on the go as you do at home! With millions of Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspots nationwide, you can use the Xfinity Stream app on the go to stream your favorite shows, top networks and live sports at no additional charge. It’s also a great opportunity to get some work done on your laptop, iPad or phone free of charge outside of the home (there’s even a handy map to locate nearby Xfinity WiFi hotspots: http://wifi.xfinity.com/). And even if Wi-Fi is not an option, you have the ability to download DVR recordings, shows and movies to your favorite device to enjoy while traveling, sitting in your car waiting to pick up the kids, in waiting rooms or anywhere you choose to relax and kick up your feet.

At home, the Xfinity Remote App allows you to control the TV right from your smartphone or tablet. Whereas the Xfinity My Account app allows you to pay your bill, manage appointments, check for service outages, troubleshoot your devices, view and edit your wifi password and more. You can also see and control your home wifi network from just about anywhere thanks to the Xfinity xFi App. The Xfi app also makes it simple to identify and personalize all connected devices that join your in-home network and allows you to give them nicknames for easy reference! Isn’t it so amazing how much you can control right through your favorite personal device?

Upgrade your Wireless Experience with Xfinity Mobile

When it comes to saving money, I am all ears. Although I am not currently a Xfinity Mobile user, I am quite intrigued by the features and cost options. Unlike some other wireless plans, Xfinity not only offers simple and straightforward data options with no line access fees, but you only pay for the gigabytes of data that you use or you can choose to consume all of the cellular data you want for one set price. Xfinity Mobile also offers unlimited nationwide talk and text. And best of all, you can switch back and forth between data options at no cost. This can easily be done right through the Xfinity Mobile App!

Home Bucket List Alert! Of course, no matter how grand or how cozy our home may be, my family’s safety and security will always be a top priority. Comcast’s Xfinity Home is on my bucket list.
