This Year’s 2019 Disney on Ice is a Road Trip Adventure You Won’t Want To Miss! Dec 27 – Jan 5 at Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia

Disclosure: My family and I received tickets to Disney on Ice Road Trip Adventures at Wells Fargo Center in exchange for promotion of the show. All opinions are my own.

If you are looking for something extra special to do with the kids this week or next weekend, there is no better way to enjoy a fun filled family outing and welcome in the New Year than to experience the magic of Disney on Ice Road Trip Adventures at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. My family and I had the privilege of attending the show on opening night and it is absolutely delightful! I have been attending the show every year since I was a child. My love for this post-holiday tradition has only grown with me, and it has become one of my most favorite ways to create special memories with my own family. The show runs through January 5th and there is still plenty of time to grab tickets and experience the magic for yourself!

Last week I had yet another amazing opportunity to head to the Wells Fargo Center with my husband and daughter for a pre-show interactive behind the scenes meet and greet with some of the performers. This is my second year attending the media preview and it is such an honor and privilege.

This behind the scenes sneak peek allowed us to check out some of the props, costumes and interactive demonstrations with the show’s performers.

My daughter was absolutely intrigued that the performers are not only from all over the United States, but from countries around the World! This year’s performers are not only amazingly talented but they are incredibly friendly and down to Earth. It was such a treat getting to sit down and chat with them not only about their performances, but many even shared some personal experiences and a little background about their life and relationships.

It was exciting to meet several performers who were performing with Disney on Ice for the very first time this year.  Their enthusiasm and excitement to be a part of this amazing cast was so refreshing. They way they laugh and joke with one another shows that not only are they co-performers but they are undoubtedly one big family when they are on the road.  Their chemistry was undeniable and their excitement for what they do is simply contagious. We had such a great time hanging out with everyone.

This year’s Disney On Ice Road Trip Adventures once again raises the bar and adds a whole new element of technology, innovation and talent to this already notoriously amazing show. Expect to see lots of interaction with the audience, technology that brings the scenery to life, dynamic and high energy performances featuring not only glorious figure skating technique, but also incredible aerial stunts, BMX tricks on ice, and mind-blowing acrobatics.

With all of your most favorite Disney characters along for the adventure, you will join the journey while experiencing Disney tales from Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Frozen, Lion King, Toy Story 4, Frozen and Moana. The adventure unfolds right before your eyes in this year’s presentation. I was especially excited for this year’s Mary Poppins and Lion King performances as many of the cast members had told us how many cool effects we would experience during these particular scenes.  Let’s say both scenes exceeded my expectations!

Forky from Toy Story 4 was also a big crowd pleaser!

And for those of you with Disney Princess fans, you will be thrilled to see that there is an entire skit dedicated to the princesses.  The “Girl Power” themed scene is so lively and upbeat! The dancing and skating in this particular skit was one of my favorites.

The performers really do a wonderful job interacting with the crowd throughout the show and certainly help keep even the littlest visitors engaged and entranced by the spirit and magic of Disney! But perhaps the thing I love most about Disney on Ice shows are that as much as the children love the show, adults often love the show even more because of the appreciation for all that goes into these absolutely stunning performances.

Glancing around at even the littlest kids on their feet bouncing with excitement, peering at parents grinning ear to ear as they sing along with their children and experiencing the joy of grandparents snuggling with their grandchildren in their seats, I am once again reminded why it is that I love this show so much – and why this tradition is something I hope to carry far beyond my own children – hopefully to my grandchildren and beyond. Creating memories like this is a priceless gift to treasure for a lifetime.

A few tips for those attending the show:

  • Leave yourself some time to get to the event. You never know how much traffic you may encounter and it is always nice to have a few extra minutes for a bathroom break, to purchase a snack and to find your seats.
  • The show runs approximately just under 2 hours total including intermission
  • If your child has a costume and likes dressing up, you will find that many kids come dressed in costume.
  • Consider naptimes and bedtimes when choosing a show. The 7:00 performance may be a bit late for young children.
  • Be prepared to wait in lines for the bathroom during intermission. Perhaps bring something along in your pocket to keep your child busy while waiting.
  • If your child is sensitive to loud noise, consider bringing earplugs or earmuffs to soften the noise.
  • Be prepared for the many toys, programs, light up items. stuffed dolls and more that line the halls of the center. If you do not plan to purchase these items during your visit, consider bringing your own stuffed doll or light up toy from home or have a discussion with your child before you go to help prevent any unforeseen meltdowns.
  • Food and drinks can be costly at the center.  If close to meal time, consider eating a meal or snack at home before the show to help minimize spending on food at the performance.
  • Dress warmly. The show is on ice and it does tend to feel a bit chilly.
