Amazon Studios Presents A Night at the Drive In at Philadelphia Area Shankweiler’s Drive-In {& a Giveaway}

Ahhh I can still remember my first drive in movie when I was a kid.  We went to see Grease as a family and it was such a fun and memorable experience that has lasted a lifetime.  For quite sometime I have had “drive in movie” on my family bucket list and this year, especially with the pandemic, I cannot think of a better time to check this one off my family bucket list and finally give my kids the chance to experience the joy I can still remember as a child!

On Wednesday, July 29th, Amazon Studios’ will be offering a A Night at the Drive-In with the theme “Movies to Inspire Your Inner Child” with a Philadelphia area drive in at Shankweiler’s Drive-In in Orefield (about an hour from the city, near Allentown), which also happens to be the oldest drive-in movie theater in America! (How cool is that?!) The evening will include a double feature of SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE and HOOK. The series is curated by Michael B. Jordan, with the goal of celebrating multi-cultural voices in film.

The program will run every other week through the end of August.  Each week will feature a new theme with double features for guests to enjoy:

Movies to inspire your inner child (July 29th):
Hook (Sony Pictures)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Sony Pictures)

Movies to make you open your eyes (Aug 12th):
Do The Right Thing (Universal)
Get Out  (Universal)

Movies to make you laugh (Aug 26th):
Coming to America (Paramount Pictures)
Girls Trip (Universal)

In addition, we have been given the opportunity by Amazon Studios to giveaway 5 RESERVED SPOTS for the July 29th double feature. (reserved admission if you arrive before showtime – guest are encouraged to arrive a bit early. Spots will not be held for guests who arrive late) SPIDER-MAN will start approximately 9 PM and HOOK will likely start around 11 PM. (You may leave after the first movie if you choose) The gates open at 7 PM. As part of the concessions for the screenings, all attendees will receive refreshments provided by Black and Brown owned businesses, which are Path Water, Pipcorn Popcorn and Partake Cookies.
