We’ll be checking out nighttime insects and animals in the garden with naturalist Ken Frank (author of Ecology of Center City Philadelphia) and Bartram’s Garden gardener Mandy Katz. Join in the wooded Lower Garden near the Schuylkill River, where we’ll be luring an incredible array of nocturnal insects with black lights, overripe bananas, and molasses. This is a rare opportunity to get an up-close look at some of the ethereal animals that spend the days hidden in plain sight in Philly’s urban wilderness. Open to seasoned entomologists and curious newcomers alike, we’ll work together to observe, identify, and photograph moths and other insects drawn to light and sugar traps in the Garden.   • Carpenters’ Hall Family Fun Day Saturday July 10th, 17th & 31st 10 AM 320 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA Visit the courtyard of Carpenters’ Hall this July for free programming that’s fun for the whole family. Each week, a new history maker will host special programs and activities throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to try hands-on activities and engage in discussions and demonstrations. Programs will teach attendees about the role of the surveyor in colonial Philadelphia, the practice of science in the 18th century, and the role of spies and their skills going into the Revolution. Walk will meet by visitor center and be at a relaxed paced on flat surfaces. There are restrooms and a water fountain near the trailhead. Please keep your mask on while at the refuge.   • PECO Family Jams: Rolling River Prints with the Fabric Workshop and Museum Sunday July 11th 12 PM – 4 PM at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens 1020 South Street Philadelphia, PA Visiting Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is a full sensory experience. While walking through our art environment, catch the scent of flowers and backyard barbecues, listen to the sounds of the city and the birds that flit through the artworks, feel the uneven textures of tiles and grout underfoot, and watch the light change in dazzling reflections from fragments of mirror embedded in the mosaics.   • FREE Family-Friendly Bowling Event at MacDade Bowl hosted by Keep Delco Smiling Sunday July 11th 2 PM – 5 PM 2105 MacDade Blvd Holmes PA Keep Delco Smiling will be hosting a FREE family friendly bowling event that will be open to everyone. Please come out and have some fun! They will have 10 lanes reserved. Depending on how many people attend, there may be a short wait to bowl and/or you may be encouraged to share a lane with another family.
    Bowling, shoe rentals and pizza party are all free! Delco Spider-Man will be attending. Soda will be provided. You may bring your own beer or wine. Show up anytime between 2pm and 5pm.
    We’ll have some raffles to raise money for our organization. If you can afford to participate, we would greatly appreciate it but please come regardless. We are organizing this event as part of our mission, not specifically as a fundraiser.
