  • Outdoor Family Story Time at Ridley Township Public Library Friday August 20th 10 AM -10:30 PM **for ages 5 and under.  In-person program. Story time is back this summer!  Bring your blanket and join us outside in our library courtyard (located next to our children’s library) for stories and music.   Story time will be held outdoors, please check email and our Ridley Township Public Library Facebook page for weather related announcements.   • Outdoor Storytime at Veterans Memorial Park hosted by Marple Public Library Friday August 20th 10 AM – 10:30 AM 354 Lawrence Road Broomall, PA Join every Friday in July and August for outdoor storytime in the gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park on Lawrence Road! Stories, songs, rhymes, wiggles, and fun! Recommended for kids ages 5 and under but all are welcome! No registration required.   • Stories on the Porch Friday  August 20th 10 AM – 10:30 AM at Media-Upper Providence Free Library Children ages 0-5 (older siblings welcome) are invited to sing, listen to stories, do movement activities and watch puppets on our covered porch. Registration is limited to six families. (May increase based on current conditions.) Please follow current CDC guidelines. Please note that weekly storytimes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday are all the same each week, so please pick one day of the week that best works for your family.  Program may be cancelled for inclement weather (very stormy or very hot).   • Outdoor Storytime at Crum Creek Park Friday August 20th 11 AM – 11:30 AM Join Mr. Scott for a socially distant outdoor storytime!  We will read books, sing songs, and do some movement activities. Bring a blanket or chairs if you would like! Please follow CDC guidlines for masking.  In the event of bad weather or the threat of bad weather, storytime will be cancelled for the day. Please check your email the day of the storytime if things are looking iffy. Registration is per family/group, not individual.   • Private Yankee Doodle Weekend with the 4TH CT Regiment at Fort Mifflin August 21st & 22nd 10 AM – 4 PM Join the 4th Connecticut Regiment throughout the weekend as they demonstrate life as a soldier in the Continental Army based on the memoir of Private Joseph Plumb Martin who served at Fort Mifflin during the 1777 Siege. Martin recorded his experience in a memoir published  under the title Private Yankee Doodle. Explore daily life in the garrison with the 4th CT Regiment and try your hand at some of the tasks of improving the Fort’s defenses including the construction of a scale model of a chevaux de frise, underwater obstacles that were a feat of 18th century military engineering! See original examples in the exhibit space and then observe construction under the direction of the 4th CT Regiment. Weapons demos, cannon firings, guided tours plus special outdoor activities! Earn a special reward for participating in the “32 Pounder Incident Challenge!”*SATURDAY ONLY* Meet Joseph Plumb Martin himself, as interpreted by Michael Kalichak who will recall his service as he might have done while working on the memoir fifty years following the war.
