Disclosure: My family and I received Gorton’s free product coupons, aprons and a Smarty Crunchman Plush Toy to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% my own.
I am always on the hunt for simple, easy yet healthy dinners with minimal prep work that I can get on the table in 30 minutes or less. It’s an even bigger bonus if the meal is simple enough that my kids can make it themselves, as they absolutely love helping in the kitchen! When Gorton’s recently contacted me with the opportunity to try their new Smart & Crunchy products, I had a feeling they would be a big hit with our family.
My family has been enjoying Gorton’s products since I was a child. Our family’s two favorites are Gorton’s fish sticks and Gorton’s Garlic & Herb Skillet Tilapia. When I mentioned to my kids that we were going to try a few “healthier” versions of their breaded fish sticks and filets, they were as excited as I was to give them a try. Gorton’s was kind enough to send along a few aprons, and the kids could not wait to put them on and get to work.
Set the timer, place the products on a baking sheet and pop in the oven! Easy peasy. While the kids were waiting they prepped a bagged salad and popped some oven fries into the oven. In under 25 minutes, dinner was complete and ready to serve! Let me tell you – the Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks and the Filets are both absolutely delicious. The fish is moist and flaky inside of a crunchy tasty crust. I loved that there was no visible grease and they tasted healthy and delicious with no fishy after taste. I’m thinking next time I make these I may even chop them up and turn them into some delicious fish tacos or a fish taco salad! I am totally inspired by all of Gorton’s awesome recipe ideas that can be found on their website HERE. Everyone in the family agreed that the new healthier version is definitely one that we should add into our regular meal rotation.
Here are a few reasons why you should consider trying the new Gorton’s Smart & Crunchy Fish products:
- They are always crispy, never fried and have 50% less fat than Gorton’s regular fish sticks. They are just 180 calories per serving.
- Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks are made with 100% wild-caught Alaskan Pollock
- They are breaded in a tasty panko breadcrumb that gives them amazing crunch
- Gorton’s entire product line has no artificial flavors and no MSG
- Fish and seafood are natural sources of lean protein and critical nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, iron, zinc and Vitamins A, B and D
- Gorton’s is easy to keep on hand in the freezer for a quick, nutritious and simple meal
