The Great Pumpkin Carve 2017
October 19th – October 21st
at the Chadds Ford Historical Society
Held as a special fundraiser for and at the grounds of the Chadds Ford Historical Society, this open air festival features more than 60 local artists who carve huge pumpkins. These amateur and professional carvers sculpt pumpkins that sometimes weigh up to 400 pounds!
We have three BIG nights!
Thursday, October 19th, 5-9 PM: Carve night!
Friday, October 20th, 5-9 PM: Pumpkins a-glow!
Saturday, October 21st, 3-9 PM: Earlier open time and pumpkins a-glow!
In addition to the pumpkin carving on Thursday (and demonstrations on the other nights), we will also have:

Join the West Chester Railroad for a Halloween themed ride! Kids and parents are encouraged to wear their favorite costumes! Treats will be given to children during our 20 minute layover at the historic Glen Mills station. Riders of all ages will be able to enjoy the fall foliage along the Chester Creek Valley during the 90-minute journey to Glen Mills and back. A fun event for the whole family to enjoy!

The Railroad is a safe place to enjoy the festive Halloween events, so bring the kids and ride aboard this 45 minute spooky fun excursion. Children of all ages are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes, helping to make the train a scary sight.
Enjoy the ride while participating in the reading of The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin© children’s book combined with fun and cheerful songs.
Afterwards, trick or treat around the New Hope train station for more surprises!
Trick or Treat bags, assorted trinkets and candy will be given out onboard as well as at the station! All ages are welcome!

Haunted Halloween Trains at New Hope & Ivyland Railroad

The Haunted Train Ride Through Pennsylvania That Will Terrify You In The Best Way Possible
Take a 40 minute ride ride on the dark side onboard the Haunted Halloween Train. Do you trust yourself to be at the mercy of your own Nightmares? When this train leaves the safety of the station, you are tossed into the hands of the unknown. Our creatures are sure to frighten the strongest of heart, and test the nerve of all onboard. Runaway Trolley RIDE

A 30 min bone chilling Ride on 1950 Trolley that runs away under the creepy trees. Screaming into the complete darkness of the night, sit next to one of our terrorizing characters and hold on tight as we accelerate down windy roads, up and down. Along the way we pick up a killer hitchhiker, IT’s a real clown act, then at the grave turnaround the dead come alive as zombies come through the windows. Once you enter you can never leave!
HOURS: The Trolley runs every half hour.starting at 6:30 pm. The first trolley is appropriate for children. However the darker it gets the more terrorizing we become. The ride escalates into more fear and intimidation as the hour passes 7pm, appropriate for adults the trolley goes faster, the night falls among us, and light slips away. The Last Trolley departs at 12 midnight, and No one goes home.

Show your team spirit during the Eagles Pep Rally on October 22, from 12 to 3 PM. Enjoy a day filled with football-themed activities including an appearance by Swoop, the Eagles Cheerleading Team, and all-time Philadelphia Great Duce Staley!

Thornbury Halloween Parade & Fall Festival

The Parade starts at Yellow House Parking Lot on Glen Mills Road.  The Fall Festival is at Thornbury Park.
From the website:
Dress up in your Halloween finest and parade from the Yellow House to Thornbury Park.  Enter the pie baking and best costume contests. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for most creative costume. Bring your old jeans and flannel shirts and make a scarecrow! (Hay and frame provided.) Enjoy live music while you carve your own special pumpkin creation (carving tools not supplied).  Please note,one pumpkin per child/child must be present.
